APS-1000 Quick Install Guide 1.8 Meter (6-Foot) Doorway System (Preliminary) 8000-2853-06, Rev. 0 A PS-1000 Marketed as A ssetPro SM and ezMax C L C L B C B D D Tx A a b Tx B C ! A The APS-1000 uses a primary pedestal and a secondary pedestal (the one with the long cable attached). A. The base for the primary pedestal contains a cable connection bracket. Remove this bracket from the base. Four screws secure the bracket. B. Place pedestal bases 1.5β1.8m (5β6 feet) apart, center-to-center. VERY IMPORTANT! Ensure bases are at least 12.7cm (5 in.) from the doorframe. C. Using a pencil, mark mounting hole locations for each base. If drilling through carpet, cut the carpet to avoid carpet runs. D. Move the bases out of the way and, using a 1.25cm (1/2 in.) drill bit, drill mounting holes 9cm (3 in.) deep. Secure each base using screws (a) and anchors (b) supplied. With its bottom facing the doorway, gently lay the secondary pedestal near its base. In the base, run the cable through the Romex clamp in the lower hole facing the door. Tighten the Romex clamp. Ensuring the pedestalβs cover screws face the exit, press down for a tight fit. As you do, pull excess cable out of the base. Ensure the cable is not pinched between the base and the pedestal housing. IMPORTANT! Once the pedestal is in place, gently push about 0.3m (1ft) of cable back into the base to enable the pedestal to be detached from the base if future service is required. Peel and stick wireway is provided. The cable from the secondary pedestal to the primary pedestal runs up, over and down the doorway through this wireway. A. Wipe the frame of the door with alcohol where the wireway is to go. Then with the opening of the wireway facing the exit, affix the wireway around the doorframe (shown by arrows) and insert the cable into it. B. At the base of the primary pedestal, run the end of the cable through the Romex Clamp in the lower hole in the end facing the door so itβs end extends about 30.5cm (1 ft) above the base. Cut off and discard excess cable. C. If necessary, protect any remaining exposed cable with a wireway or other suitable covering. A. Gently lay the primary pedestal near the base with its bottom facing the doorway. Route the ac pigtail exiting the pedestal over the base and down the vertical groove in the base facing the doorway. Towards the doorway, run the pedestal side of the power extension cord under the base and connect it to the pigtail. B. Slip the primary pedestal over its base while ensuring: a. Its cover screws face the exit. b. The ac connection is tucked in the groove of the base. Press down for a tight fit. As you do, ensure the ac connection remains tucked in the groove. IMPORTANT! Protect any remaining exposed cable with a wireway or other suitable covering. Remove the cord access knockout from the bottom of the ac receptacle guard (supplied). Replace the existing outlet cover with the receptacle guard. Plug the extension cord into the AC receptacle. A green lamp atop of the primary pedestal will light and the red alarm lamp will blink once every 4 seconds to indicate the system is looking to avoid noise from nearby electronic equipment (auto phasing). An audio/visual alarm for 2 seconds indicates the system is ready for routine operation. IMPORTANT! Auto phasing can take up to 11 minutes depending on noise encountered. Note: If the system alarms, wait one minute to see if the red lamp blinks twice every 4 seconds for one minute. If it does, see page __ in Installation and Troubleshooting Guide , 8000-2853-01. Snap the enclosure cover closed. Secure the cord using cable ties provided. TEST THE SYSTEM . Hold a known good security tag horizontal and walk it through box A, stepping past the pedestals. The system should alarm. Repeat the test for box B. FCC ID: BVCAPS1000 IC: 3506A β APS1000 5 1.3 Test System Description. The system consists of 2 pedestals, one called a primary and the other called a secondary. The primary pedestal houses loop antennas and electronics for transmit, receive, alarm and data processing electronics. The secondary pedestal houses a loop antenna and tuning circuit only. The pedestal system operates at 58 kHz, detecting an acousto-magnet tag placed within the field generated by the pedestals. In some applications, the system also includes a previously authorized auxiliary device identified as Sync Link (FCC ID: BVCDEACSLNK). The device provides a RF link to synchronize nearby 58 kHz devices. The Sync Link device is located inside of the primary pedestal below the pedestalβs transmitter assembly and operates at 900 MHz, transmitting at a 5 mW level. The product tested was a pre-production unit built to production drawings. The system was tested with the Sync Link installed. 15.203 . The antenna is an internal integral antenna, therefore the antenna is compliant with the requirements of this clause. III. Conducted Emissions 15.207. Conducted emissions data are presented in Section VIII βDataβ, Part A, Conducted Emissions. The product demonstrated compliance with the requirements. The product was tested at 120 V, 60 Hz. IV. Radiated Emissions 15.209. Radiated emissions data for this product are presented in Section VIII βDataβ, Part B, Radiated Emissions. The product demonstrated compliance with the requirements. Radiated emissions measurements were performed at 10 meters. Propagation loss was determined by extrapolating the results to 300 meters as per 15.31(f)(2), using the 2 point roll-off extrapolation method. FCC ID: BVCAPS1000 IC: 3506A β APS1000 6 Maximum radiation was determined by first assessing symmetry while applying incremental rotation of the product. The product exhibited quadrant symmetry. Measurements were taken at radials of 22.5Β° throughout one quadrant. The measurement antenna was rotated for maximum pickup about the vertical and horizontal axis of the measurement antenna at the radial of the EUT with the maximum emission. The maximum emission was determined to be with the measurement loop antenna in the vertical polarization, parallel to the plane of the transmit loop antenna. The product was tested at input voltages to the transformer ranging from 102 β 138 V, 60. See Section VIII, Part B. V. Occupied Bandwidth RSS 210:5.9.1. The 20 dB bandwidth measurements for this product are presented in Section VII βDataβ, Part C, Occupied Bandwidth. A bandwidth requirement was not specified for 58 kHz products, so the default 20 dB bandwidth was measured. The HP 8591EM spectrum analyzer cannot measure a bandwidth over 1.8 kHz in quasi-peak detection mode, so the bandwidth was measured in pβ¦

Form Letters1 FCC To whom it may concern: SUBJECT: SENSORMATIC ELECTRONICS CORP.FCC ID: APS1000 REFERENCE: JOB 1074UC2 From: DONALD UMBDENSTOCK: The distance correction factor is explained as follows: Test report Section IV, Radiated Emissions: "Propagation loss was determined by extrapolating the results to 300 meters as per 15.31(f)(2), using the 2 point roll-off extrapolation method." Test report Section VIII, Data, Part B, Radiated Emissions, footnotes at the bottom of the page: "DCF: Distance Correction Factor DCF = 20 log( Test Dist / 300)P = 20 P log ( Test Dist / 300 ) Where P is the roll-off exponent . P is found as follows: P = (Level(at Distance 1) - Level(at Distance 2)) / 20 log (Distance 2 / Distance 1) P = 3 The above formulas explains the 2 point method allowed by the rules. The following is the formula with values plugged in: P = (59.4 - 41.3) / 20 log (20/10) = 18/6 = 3 DCF = 20 P log (10/300) = (20)(3) log (1/30) = 60 log (1/30) = - 88.6 Similarly for test distance at 30 meters, DCF = 60 log (10/30) = - 28.6 Let me know if you need any further clarification. Kind regards, Form Letters1 Don Umbdenstock
