Radio interference can occur if more than one radio control vehicle or another radio device is operating on the same frequency Radio interfer- ence can also occur near high voltage electrical wires, reinforced concrete buildings or trucks with CB radios. Radio interference can cause this product to work erratically. For best performance, maintain a dis- tance from, or do not operate this toy near other radio devices such as nursery monitors, cordless telephones or other radio control vehicles on the same frequency. Any modification of the transmitter or the receiver (truck) will violate FCC compliance and can void the user's authority to operate the equipment. Hint: The 9-volt (6LR61) battery in the transmitter has a longer life than the 'AA" (L R6) batteries in the truck. You may need to change the 'AA" bat- teries more often than the 9-volt battery. m BOTH SHOWN ACTUAL SIZE ~ ~ m Battery Tips • Do not mix old and new batteries. • Do not mix different types of bafteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel- cadmium). • Remove the batteries during long periods of non- use. Always remove exhausted batteries from the product. Battery leakage and corrosion can dam- age the product. • Never short circuit the battery terminals. a • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged. • Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended in the "Battery Installation" instructions are to be used. • If removable rechargeable batteries are used, they are only to be charged under adult supervision. • Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the product before they are charged. • It you use a battery charger, it should be examined regularly for damage to the cord, plug, enclosure and other parts. Do not use a damaged battery charger until it has been properly repaired. Truck Batteries •Turn the truck upside down. •Unfasten the screw in the battery com- partment door with a Phillips screwdriver. The screw will remain in the door. •Remove the battery compartment door. •Insert four size "AA" alkaline batteries, as indicated inside the bat- tery compartment. •Fit the tab on the battery compartment door into the slot in the battery compartment. Close the battery compartment door and tighten the screw with a Phillips screwdriver. Do not over-tighten. Battery Compartment I ~ ~ Transmitter Battery • Unfasten the screw in the battery compart- ment door with a Phil- lips screwdriver. The screw will remain in the door. • Open the battery com- partment door. • Snap a 9-volt battery to the battery contacts and insert it into the battery compartment. • Close the battery compartment door and tighten the screw with a Phillips screwdriver. - Slide the on/off switch to turn the truck power on or off. Hint: The truck power will turn off automatically after a few minutes of non-use. To turn the truck power back on, slide the onloff switch to the on position. Cab Down Push cab down for high speed. f@ @ F @ @r ~ - FORWARD - Push the top arrow on the trans-,, mitter control button. - REVERSE - Push the bottom arrow on the transmitter control button. - STOP - Release the transmitter control button. - LEFT - Turn the transmitter wheel to the left. - STRAIGHT - Keep the transmitter wheel straight. . RIGHT - Turn the transmitter wheel to the right. • For maximum range, keep the transmitter antenna pointed up. • Operate the truck in a dry, open area, away from any street or moving (motorized) vehicles. • Avoid using this toy near sand and water. It moisture does get inside the truck or trans- mitter, remove the batteries and allow the units to dry for several hours before next use. • Store your truck and transmitter inside after play, away from heat or direct sunlight. • Do not carry the truck or transmitter by the antenna.

FISHER PRICE TOY #2824 CIP TRANSMITTER CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION: The 2824 CIP transmitter is an amplitude modulated pulse code system, operating at a carrier frequency of 27.145 MHz. U40 is an EMC EM222603 microprocessor that is programmed to create the pulse code used to modulate the 27.145MHz signal. The 4 input switches Forward, Reverse, Left and Right are read by the microprocessor to determine what pulse code to output. The pulse code is fed to the base of the modulation transistor Q3 by R10. Modulation depth is controlled by R7. Q1, R5, C2, XTAL, R8, C4, C5, C4, T1 form the 3rd overtone 27.145 MHz R.F. oscillator. R.F. energy from the secondary of transformer T1 is coupled to the driver stage Q2. The output driver is comprised of R6, C6, Q2, C7, R7, T2. A modulated R.F. carrier is coupled to the antenna by matching network C8, and L1. The transmitter is powered up only during control commands by a 9 volt battery. C9 is for supply filtering. Pressing any of the 4 switches also enables power to the microprocessor through Q40 and a 3.9V regulator made up of R43, C40 and D40. The processor then turns on Q41 through R40, which keeps Q40 on until all input switches are released and an “end command” pulse code has been sent.
