K0011 2/01 ADEMCO No. 5800SS1 Shock Sensor/Transmitter Installation Instructions Use the 5800SS1 shock sensor only with alarm systems that support 5800 series wireless devices. The transmitter has its own unique serial number permanently assigned during manufacture, which must be entered into the control panel prior to the transmitterโ€™s usage. Refer to the control unitโ€™s installation instruction for programming details. Note: During programming of the control unit, 5800SS1 transmitters should be treated as โ€œRFโ€ (i.e. supervised RF) Type. The 5800SS1 is assigned as one zone. Mounting Before mounting the transmitter permanently, conduct Go/No Go tests (see controlโ€™s instructions) to verify adequate signal strength from the mounting location. 1) Learn serial number as described in the control panel installation instructions. To cause the sensor to transmit, remove the battery pull tab. For additional transmissions, lightly tap on the base of the sensor. 2) Determine mounting location. For best sensitivity, the sensor should be mounted in one inch from the edge of the window. 3) Verify range by holding the sensor in the approximate mounting location and tapping on the base. The panel (in test mode) should respond to the transmissions. If not, find a more suitable mounting location. 4) Clean the glass, where the sensor is to be mounted, with a mixture water and isopropyl alcohol. Once the glass is dry remove the tape backing paper and firmly press the sensor in the desired mounting location. 5) Verify operation by striking the opposite edge of the window with the handle of a screwdriver โ€“ check for trip at alarm panel. Specifications Glass coverage: Plate, Laminate, and Tempered, up to ยผโ€ thick and 10โ€™ distance from mounting location. Unit Dimensions: 1.6โ€ (40.64mm) x 1.6โ€ (40.64mm) x 0.8โ€ (20.32mm) Battery: Panasonic CR2, Sanyo CR2, and Duracell DLCR2. ADEMCO GROUP 165 Eileen Way, Syosset NY 11791 Copyrightยฉ 2001 Pittway Corporation Refer to the installation instructions for the receiver/control with which this device is used for warranty information, and details regarding the limitations of the entire alarm system. FCC Statement FCC ID: CFS8DL5800SS1 This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

To whom it may concern: Here is the timing diagram for our CFS8DL5800SS1. This is the same timing as used in all of our 5800 door / window type transmitters. ( We normally only send you the duty cycle calculation. ) Please advise if you wish us to include this diagram in future submissions. I am also re-sending 5800SS1 , EXHIBIT 3-1 , the Duty Cycle Calculation. Regards, Greg Barbato for Ken Addy

To whom it may concern: As per your request I am re-sending 1. the 5800SS1 schematic (EXHIBIT 2-2), and 2. the 5800SS1 II (manual) (EXHIBIT 7-1), you also requested a block diagram, which I am also including (EXHIBIT 2-3) please note in the past we have sent only the schematic, as it served the same function. Regards, Greg Barbato for Ken Addy

Operational Description

EXHIBIT 2-1 CFS8DL5800SS1 The 5800SS1 is constructed on a single PCB. The PCB contains the message encoder chip U2, a loop input, RF transmitter U1 with its output matching components and antenna. The transmitter is a phase locked loop and PA in one chip (U1) the Frequency Determining Element is Y1 (10.78125Mhz) The PLL produces an output at 32 X 10.78125Mhz = 345Mhz. The transmitter is On-off keyed (AM) by a control signal from the encoder chip (U2) all modulation is done Internally, L3,C9 are U1's PA's external tank circuit, C6,L1,C7, provide harmonic suppression, C14,blocks DC and works with C8,C10, to match the output to the loop antenna.

Operational Description

EXHIBIT 3 CFS8DL5800SS1 5800SS1 - Duty Cycle Calculation Message protocol, timing and duty cycle calculation. The data output is phase-encoded Manchester that has inherent 50% duty cycle and consists of 64 bits per word A supervision transmission is six identical words separated by (start to start) by nominal 125mSec (100 mSec min, 150 mSec max). Each message has a nominal data rate of 3.7 kb/s (3.2kb/s min to 4.2kb/s max). Therefore the duty cycle is calculation is as follows: The word format consists of 64 bits, The duration of each bit is 312.5 uSec max. The duty cycle over a 100 mSec measuring period is calculated as follows: Duty cycle = Actual RF transmission ON time / 100 mSec Actual transmission ON time = 64 bits X 50% X 312.5 uSec = 10 mSec Therefore duty cycle = 10 / 100 mSec = .10 = 10%, and peak to average field strength is 20 db. Total on-air time for a supervision transmission is: 64 X 312.5 uSec + (5 X 150 mSec) = 0.77 seconds In the case of an alarm transmission, the group of six transmissions is repeated twice, with the second group delayed from the first by a max time of 2 seconds. The worst case on-air time is 2 X (supervision time) + 2 = 3.54 seconds Summary: - Duty cycle = 10% On airtime = 3.54 seconds

Test Report

EXHIBIT 5-1 CFS8DL5800SS1 Report of Measurements. Measurements were made at Ademco 's Measurement Facility at 160 Eileen Way , Syosset , NY 11791 , FCC Registration number : 90421. Measurements were made in accordance with the procedures and reporting requirements of ANSI C63.4-1992. The Test Set-Up (C63.4 section 10.1.3) is shown in the attached drawing. The sequence of testing (C63.4 section 10.1.7) for radiated emissions is as follows: A preliminary scan was conducted with the receiver antenna close to the EUT in order to identify the emission characteristics of the EUT (C63.4 section 8.3.1.1). The antenna and EUT were then placed at the proper separation with the EUT positioned on a non-conducting turntable. The EUT was rotated on the turntable to maximize the received signal strength, then the receiver antenna height was varied to further maximize the received reading. Thereafter, the device was again rotated to a peak output position and the antenna height was re-adjusted for maximum received signal. This procedure was re-iterated until there was no further increase in signal level. This procedure was performed with the EUT rotating in three orthogonal planes (C63.4 section 13.1.4.1) to generate a final maximum reading which is recorded on the radiated emissions result sheet. Similar measurements were made on the receiver to ensure compliance as an unintentional radiator. See Exhibit 6 for list of test equipment (C63.4 section 10.1.4). Note, Spectrum Analyzer resolution bandwidths set as follows; (Video Bandwidth set greater than RBW) - For occupied bandwidth measurements, RBW = 100kHz, (This is in accordance with the minimum RBW allowed by C63.4, which requires RBW greater than 5% of the FCC required occupied bandwidth spec of 0.25% of center frequency). - For radiated emissions below 1 GHz, the RBW = 100kHz. Detector function set to peak. - For radiated emissions above 1 GHz, the RBW = 1MHz. Detector function set to peak. OCCUPIED BANDWIDTH is shown on attached plot. RADIATED EMISSIONS are recorded on attached sheet.
