Confidential Bluetooth™ SD card User's Manual R ev. 1.1 (April 26, 2001) 3 Feature Bluetooth™ SD card is an ultra small and thin card with has built-in antenna and SD/IO interface compliant with SDIO-spec issue by SD Association. Also, as data transmitter/receiver ,CSR’s BlueCore01, which covers Baseband protocol and Link manager protocol, is incorporated into this card to enable any kind of devices which incorporate SDIO-spec SD card slot and the driver software for Bluetooth™ SD card to communicate with each other through this card. Bluetooth™ SD card can be used with any kind of devices which have SDIO card slot and software for Bluetooth SD card, i.e. PDAs, portable PCs, desktop PCs, digital still cameras, cellular phones. Operation of the devices in a Bluetooth System is subject to the following two conditions: € This device may not cause harmful interference. € This device must accept any interference that may cause undesired operation. Caution: Exposure to Radio Frequency Radiation. The radiated output power of the Toshiba Bluetooth™ SD Card is far below the FCC radio frequency exposure limits. Nevertheless, the Toshiba Bluetooth™ SD Card shall be used in such a manner that the potential for human contact during normal operation is minimized. When using this device , a certain separation distance between antenna and nearby persons has to be kept to ensure RF exposure compliance. The distance between the antennas and the user should not be less than 5.0cm. Refer to the Regulatory Statements as identified in the documentation that comes with those products for additional information. The Toshiba Bluetooth™ SD Card is far below the FCC radio frequency exposure limits. Nevertheless, it is advised to use the Toshiba Bluetooth™ SD Card in such a manner that human contact during normal operation is minimized. Interference Statement This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy. If not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, it may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try and correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: € Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. € Increase the distance between the equipment and the receiver. € Connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. € Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. Toshiba is not responsible for any radio or television interference caused by unauthorized modification of the devices included with this Toshiba Bluetooth™ SD Card, or the substitution or attachment of connecting cables and equipment other than specified by Toshiba . The correction of interference caused by such unauthorized modification, substitution or attachment will be the responsibility of the user.

The AC conducted emission plots that you provided were using Peak detector. As the plots indicated, peak emissions are over the QP limits. I mentioned to Karin, Cetecom needs to measure again with QP detector in order to demenstrate compliance. Even though this Blue tooth adapter does not have direct connection to AC main. The required DC power is obtained from PCI slot of Personal Computer. If you read 15.207 requirements carefully, this adapter has to comply with 15.207 requirements. This is the only information that I need from you. After receiving your conducted emission plots with QP detector, I can issue the Grant. The 3.3VDC power supply is provided by the host stack, which from its side has to show compliance for at least Part 15 of the FCC rules (PC, PDA) within a DOC procedure. The Manufacturer of the SD/IO Card is not responsible for the compliance with §15.207 of the host stack §15.207(a) For an intentional radiator which is designed to be connected to the public utility (AC) power line, the radio frequency voltage that is conducted back onto the AC power line on any frequency or frequencies within the band 450 kHz to 30 MHz shall not exceed 250 microvolts. Compliance with this provision shall be based on the meas-urement of the radio frequency voltage between each power line and ground at the power terminals. §15.207(d) Measurements to demonstrate compliance with the conducted limits are not required for devices which only employ battery power for operation and which do not operate from the AC power lines or contain provisions for operation while connected to the AC power lines. Devices that include, or make provisions for, the use of battery chargers which permit operating while charging, AC adapters or battery elimi-nators or that connect to the AC power lines indirectly, obtainig their power through another device which is con-nected to the AC power lines, shall be tested to demonstrate compliance with the conducted limits. However please find enclosed the results for the 15.207 test. In order to proove that the host is responsible for the emissions visible in these plots, we have performed the test once with the host equipment only, the second plot is with the host and the Bluetooth card, the Bluetooth card in transmitting mode. As you can see from the results, the plug-in card does not add any additional emissions, it is the host which is producing all. 4/ this is a mistake, please change the max output power to 0.61mW. Requirement Hybrid systems that employ a combination of both direct sequence and frequency hopping modulation techniques shall achieve a processing gain of at least 17 dB from the combined technique. System losses In the formula for calculation the processing gain appears the term system losses. In Bluetooth there are two major causes for the system loss: 1. The non optimal sampling time. The CW jamming method assures that the optimal sampling time as determined before, in fact, as described above, it will be determined via the access code. 2. Losses due to attenuation in the RF part. Although this two points produce a system loss which will be much greater than 2 dB, we calculated with this value, because this is the maximum that will be accepted by FCC. It is installed on the laptop and communicates with the Toshiba Bluetoothď›› SD card. The BER was determined with a special test software over 1600000 Bits . Measurement Results : S/N Measurement : The measurement for S/N was performed by adding noise to the wanted signal. The noise level was adjusted until the BER reached 0.1 %. With this measurement configuration the S/N ratio was 7.8 dB. For every step the jammer level was adjusted until the BER was 0.1 %. The ratio between wanted signal power and the jammer power at the RF input of the device is the required Jammer to Signal ratio.
