INSTRUCTION MANUAL Remote Controller for RL-VH3 Series RC-30 Foreword Thank you for purchasing the TOPCON Remote controller RC-30. For the best performance of the instruments, please read these instruc- tions carefully and keep them in a convenient location for future refer- ence. Handling Precautions Vibration and Impact Protection when transporting the instrument, provide protection to minimize risk of severe vibration or impact. Display for Safe Use In order to encourage the safe use of products and prevent any danger to the operator and others or damage to properties, important warnings are put on the products and inserted in the instruction manuals. We suggest that everyone understand the meaning of the following dis- plays and icons before reading the “Safety Cautions” and text. 1)Injury refers to hurt, burn, electric shock, etc. 2)Physical damage refers to extensive damage to buildings or equipment and furniture. Safety Cautions Specifications Nomenclature Key Functions How to Set Communication Channel The same communication channel must be assigned to both RC-30 and the RL- VH3 series. Remove the rubber cap and turn the rotary switch to set a channel. How Replace the RC-30 Batteries 1Remove the battery cover from the back of the RC-30 by pressing on the cover and sliding it in the direction of the arrow. 2Remove the old batteries and replace with new three “AA” cell alkaline batteries making sure each is placed in the proper direction as indicated. 3Replace the battery cover. You will hear a click when it snaps in place. DisplayMeaning WARNING Ignoring or disregard of this display may lead to death or serious injury. CAUTION Ignoring or disregard of this display may lead to personal injury or physical dam- age to the instrument. WARNING • There is a risk of fire, electric shock or physical harm if you attempt to disassemble or repair the instrument yourself. This is only to be carried out by TOPCON or an authorized dealer, only! • Risk of fire or electric shock. Do not use a wet battery or charger. • May ignite explosively. Never use an instrument near flammable gas, liquid matter, and do not use in a coal mine. • Battery can cause explosion or injury. Do not dispose in fire or heat. • The short circuit of a battery can cause a fire. Do not short circuit battery when storing it. CAUTION Do not allow skin or clothing to come into contact with acid from the batteries, if this does occur then wash off with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice. The Equipment Under Test (EUT) was the TOPCON RC-30, FCC ID: EUGRC-30. The test results reported in this document relate only to the item that was tested. All measurements contained in this Application were conducted in accordance with ANSI C63.4 Methods of Measurement of Radio Noise Emissions, 1992. The instrumentation utilized for the measurements conforms to the ANSI C63.4 standard for EMI and Field Strength Instrumentation. Some accessories are used to increase sensitivity and prevent overloading of the measuring instrument. These are explained in the appendix of this report. Calibration checks are performed regularly on the instruments, and all accessories including the high pass filter, preamplifier and cables. All radiated emissions measurement were performed manually at Rhein Tech, Incorporated. The radiated emissions measurements required by the rules were performed on the three meter, open field, test range maintained by Rhein Tech Laboratories, Inc., 360 Herndon Parkway, Suite 1400, Herndon, Virginia 20170. Complete description and site attenuation measurement data have been placed on file with the Federal Communications Commission. The power line conducted emission measurements …
