LGIC Cordless Key Telephone CKTU 1.Description 1.1 General Description The following functional specification details the requirements for the development of a Cordless Key Telephone Unit (CKTU). The hardware development effort is to be completed by LG Electronics. The software development will be performed by joint development between LG Electronics and VCS Key System Software Group. The objective is to address the worker mobility segment of the rapidly expanding wireless office systems market as an adjunct for each of the STARPLUS  , Fujitsu and infinite V-Series Key Telephone Systems. The Cordless Key Telephone Unit (CKTU) will act as an adjunct to the KTU and provides mobility for a relatively large percentage of users within a limited operating range. The CKTU concept is a solution that eliminates the need for a single line station port and the large adjunct cordless station used in many other product offerings. The CKTU in effect becomes a 50’ handset cord. The goal of this design would be for the user to utilize the Cordless Handset with as much of the KTU capability as possible. This is achieved by the mobile handset having 9 fixed buttons and 1 flexible button installed on it. The flexible button can be assigned to act as any one of the standard KTU flexible buttons would. 1.2 Installation The CKTU installs as an adjunct to a wired telephone utilizing the CTI connection method. Unplug the telephone line cord at the telephone end Plug this cord into the charger base jack labeled KSU. Plug the line cord supplied with the CKTU into the charger base jack labeled KTU. Plug the other end of this cord into the telephone unit. Plug the power supply into the wall outlet. Plug the other end into the charger base unit. At the key telephone, dial 648. Press the * key until CKTU MODE appears on the LCD. Press HOLD to save. -or- (for non-LCD) Enter programming and go to FLASH 50. Enter the station that is associated with the CKTU. Go to Page B, button 12 Dial a 4 on the keypad Press HOLD At the CKTU: Press HOLD Enter the desired station number. (it is recommended to match the station number to the host telephone number) Press HOLD

The site address is 6660-B Dobbin Road, Columbia, MD 21045. The test site is one of the highest points in the Columbia area with an elevation of 390 feet above mean sea level. The site coordinates are 39° 11'15" N latitude and 76° 49'38" W longitude. The facility is 1.5 miles North of the FCC laboratory, and the ambient signal and ambient signal strength are approximately equal to those of the FCC laboratory. There are no FM or TV transmitters within 15 miles of the site.
