LG-DB210 Operator’s Guide February 08, 2000 Manual Part R&D Planning Department i FCC RF EXPOSURE INFORMATION In August 1996 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States with its action in Report and Order FCC 96-326 adopted an updated safety standard for human exposure to radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic energy emitted by FCC regulated transmitters. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standard previously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies. The design of this phone complies with the FCC guidelines and these international standards. Use only the supplied or an approved antenna. Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could impair call quality, damage the phone, or result in violation of FCC regulations. Do not use the phone with a damaged antenna. If a damaged antenna comes into contact with the skin, a minor burn may result. Please contact your local dealer for replacement antenna. Body-worn Operation This device was tested for typical body-worn operations with the back of the phone kept 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) from the body. To comply with FCC RF exposure requirements, a minimum separation distance of 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) must be maintained between the user’s body and the back of the phone, including the antenna, whether extended or retracted. Third-party belt-clips, holsters and similar accessories should not contain metallic components and must provide 0.6 inch (1.5 cm) separation distance between the user’s body and the back of the phone. Body-worn accessories that do not meet these requirements may not comply with FCC RF exposure limits and should be avoided. For more information about RF exposure, please visit the FCC website at www.fcc.gov WARNING! Read this information before using your phone Digital Mobile Handset Lab. 1 LGIC Front of the Phone 1. END/PWR Switch: Lets you power the phone on or off. 2. Antenna: Retractable antenna provides optimum reception for 1900 MHz frequencies. 3. Power On Indicator: Illuminates red when the phone powers on or when you receive incoming calls. Flashes red when you have messages of scheduled alarms. 4. Headset Jack: Provides connection for an optional headset. 5. Volume Control Keys: Adjust the Ring Volume in the Main Menu or the Voice Volume during a call. The keys also scroll through months in the Calendar or pages in the Mini Browser. 6. Mouse Key: Allows quick and easy scrolling through the menus. 7. OK: Lets you place a call, receive a call, end a call or select menu options. 8. Clear Key: Lets you clear an entry or back-up in the menu. 9. Folder : Lets you answer or end calls. Installing the Battery To install the battery, insert the bottom of the battery into the opening on the back of the phone. Then, push the battery down until the latch clicks. Removing the Battery To remove the battery, release the latch and remove the battery from the phone. Battery Charge Level Using the Desktop Charger To charge the battery, plug the AC Adapter into a standard wall outlet and connect it to the phone via the I/O Connector on the bottom of the phone. Alternatively, you can place the phone in the charging cradle provided with your phone and connect the AC Adapter to the back of the cradle. The battery Charge Status icon flashes during charging. When the battery is fully charged, the battery icon stops flashing Basic Functions Turning the Phone On To turn your phone on, press the [END/PWR] for 2 ~ 3 secs. Your phone performs a short self-test before letting you know it is operational. Digital Mobile Handset Lab. 2 LGIC Turning the Phone Off To turn your phone off, press the [END/PWR] for a few secs until “Powering Off” is displayed. Then release [END/PWR]. Power Save Mode When the phone is in an area without service for 15 minutes, it stops searching for service and enters into the power Save Mode. When your phone activates this feature, Power Save is displayed on your screen. The phone automatically checks for service periodically or you can check manually by pressing any key. Signal Strength The quality of each call you make or receive depends on the signal strength on your area. The number of bars in the Signal Strength icon informs you of the current strength. The more bars, the stronger the signal. If you are outside of a service area, the “No service” icon will be displayed. No calls can be made or received, including emergency calls. Extend the antenna when the signal strength is weak. If you are in a building, the reception may better near a window. Introduction Highlights Congratulations on the purchase of your LG-DB210. This phone is lightweight, easy-to-use, reliable and offers many significant features: l Roaming capability provides access to other PCS CDMA networks where LG PCS has implemented roaming agreements. l Data/Fax feature offers wireless modem capabilities for your personal computer in digital mode. l Mini Browser provides Internet access in digital mode. l Built-in Scheduler and Call Alarms remind you of events and important calls. l Two-hundred Phone Book entries store ??? phone numbers (up to 4 phone numbers per entry) l Graphical icons and text prompts inform you of messages, events and the status of your phone. These criteria for SAR evaluation are similar to those recommended by the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) in Biological Effects and Exposure Criteria for Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields,” NCRP Report No. 86 (c) NCRP, 1986, Bethesda, MD 20814.[4] SAR is a measure of the rate of energy absorption due to exposure to an RF t…

Probe ET3DV5 SN:1370 Manufactured:February 1999 Calibrated:February 1999 Calibrated for System DASY3 Page 1 of 8 ET3DV5 SN:1370 Introduction The performance of all probes is measured before delivery. This includes an assessment of the characteristic parameters, receiving patterns as a function of frequency, frequency response and relative accuracy. Furthermore, each probe is tested in use according to a dosimetric assessment protocol. The sensitivity parameters (NormX, NormY, NormZ), the diode compresion parameter (DCP) and the conversion factor (ConvF) of the probe and some of the measurement diagrams are given in the following. The performance of the individual probes varies slightly due to tolerances arising from the manufacturing process. Since the lines are highly resistive (several MOhms), the offset and noise problem is greatly increased if signals in the low μ V range are measured. Accurate measurement below 10 μW/g are possible if the following precautions are taken. 1) check the current grounding with the multimeter 1 , i.e., low noise levels, 2) compensate the current offset 1 , 3) use long integration time (approx. 10 seconds), 4) calibrate 1 before each measurement, 5) persons should avoid moving around the lab while measuring. Since the field distortion caused by the supporting material and the sheath is quite high in the θ direction, the receiving pattern is poor in air. However, the distortion in tissue equivalent material is much less because of its high dielectricity. In addition, the fields induced in the phantoms by dipole structures close to the body are dominently parallel to the surface. Thus, the error due to non-isotropy is much better than 1 dB for dosimetric assessments. The probes are calibrated in the TEM cell ifi 110 although the field distribution in the cell is not very uniform and the frequency response is not very flat. To ensure consistency, a strict protocol is followed. The conversion factor (ConF) between this calibration and the measurement in the tissue simulation solution is performed by comparison with temperature measurements and computer simulations. This conversion factor is only valid for the specified tissue simulating liquids at the specified frequencies. If measurements have to be performed in solutions with other electrical properties or at other frequencies, the conversion factor has to be assessed by the same procedure. As the probes have been constructed with printed resistive lines on ceramic substrates (thick film technique), the probe is very delicate with respect to mechanical shocks. Attention: Do not drop the probe or let the probe collide with any solid object. Never let the robot move without first activating the emergency stop feature (i.e., without first turning the data acquisition electronics on). 1 Feature of the DASY Software Tool. Fig 1: Due to the field distortion caused by the supporting material, the probe has two charac- teristic directions, referred to as angle ψ and θ .
