American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 June 23, 2005 RE: Compal Electronics, Inc. FCC ID: GKRXGT After a review of the submitted information, I have a few comments on the above referenced Application. 1) Internal Photograph on page 9 does not appear to show the whole area underneath the shield. Please update. 2) The last photograph as part of the external photographs appear to show a different phone. Please explain/correct as necessary. 3) Please provide both the DC voltages and currents applied into the several elements of the final radio frequency amplifying device for normal operation over the power range. If this is already in the application, kindly point to where this information may be found. 4) Please explain if the loss for the power divider used during power conducted measurements was factored back into the measured reading. 5) Please explain if this device can be used with a headset. SAR testing does not appear to support this. 6) Please provide a list of any manufacturer body worn supplied accessories for this device (holsters, etc.). Additionally, please explain if there are there any manufacturer offered accessories for use with this device which may affect SAR (battery options, etc.). Please explain. 7) FYI....In the future, it would be best to more clearly define report probe tip distance to phantom inner surface and whether the distance between the measurement point at the probe sensor location (geometric center behind the probe tip) and the phantom surface is < 8.0 mm and maintained at a constant distance of +/- 1.0 mm during an area scan to determine peak SAR locations in the section 10 of the report. Timothy R. Johnson Examining Engineer mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.

Power Output is EIRP. SAR compliance for body-worn operating conditions is limited to the specific configuration tested for this filing. Body-worn operations are restricted to belt-clips, holsters or similar accessories that have no metallic component in the assembly and must provide at least 1.5 cm separation between the device and the users body. End users must be informed of the body worn requirements for satisfying RF Exposure compliance. The highest reported SAR values are: Head: 0.45 W/kg; Body-worn 0.77 W/kg. This device contains 900 MHz EGSM and 1800 MHz DCS functions that are not operational in U.S. Territories. This filing is only applicable for the 1900 MHz PCS operation.
