Re: Certification for TRW Transmitter FCC ID: GQ4-54T IC: 1470A-35T REQUEST FOR CONFIDENTIALITY Pursuant to FCC 47 CRF 0.457(d) and 0.459 and IC RSP-100, Section 10, TRW requests that a part of the subject application be held confidential. TRW has spent substantial effort in developing this product and it is one of the first of its kind in industry. Having the subject information easily available to "competition" would negate the advantage they have achieved by developing this product. Not protecting the details of the design will result in financial hardship. RE: TRW Inc. FCC ID: GQ4-54T IC: 1470A-35T ATCB0112528 The following is in response to the comments made on the above referenced application. 1) Regarding the LF Coil, it is uncertain if this part of the device is a TX, active/passive, etc. If active in nature, this would require certification as well. Block diagram does suggest it is a transceiver circuit. Please explain. The LF coil employed on this device acts both as a passive LF transponder (ignition immobilizer) and an LF receiver for passive entry that receives LF when a door handle is lifted and transmits RF. It has no ability to actively transmit LF. 2) There appears to be modifications/changes to the circuit between different versions. Please explain. The manufacturer made changes manually to the antenna tuning/filtering section prior to final testing to bring the device into compliance. The single board photo shows the sample for which complete tests were performed. The four board photo shows the main PCB tested plus the variants which were modified to the same circuitry, but not with the same care. All samples tested are electrically identical except for switch populations. 3) Section 6.1.3 would appear to need to cite 123 kHz instead of 120. Please review. This typographical error has been corrected. 4) Test Report page 9 shows 5 frames but page 7 suggests 6 frames for ASK. Please review and correct for consistency. This typographical error has been corrected.

Operational Description

TRW Automotive Legal name here May 21, 2012 TEE 24175 Research Dr. Farmington Hills, MI 48335-2642 Tel 248.478.7210 Fax 248.699.4241 RE: Certification for Chrysler FOBik2 RKE Transmitter Transmitter Model #: 231704-1 thru -4 FCC ID: GQ4-54T Canada IC: 1470A-35T Description of Circuit Operation The NXP PCF7953 is used for signal encoding and operational control. The switch inputs wake up the micro on change and the micro takes appropriate action depending on the switch status. If a switch is determined pressed the PCF7953 enables the NXP PCF7900 via the enable line. When enabled the PCF7900 begins driving the 13.56MHz crystal which is used for the PLL division factor and baud rate generation for the external clock on the PCF7900. The external clock out of the PCF7900 runs into the PCF7953. This signal is used to change data on the MSDA line on of the PCF7953. After a transmission ends and no more switches are pressed the device will go into a low power mode. The PCF7953 has an additional operating mode for usage in a passive entry (LF In/RF Out) system. In this instance the RF transmission is triggered by an LF Query instead of a switch input. The basic interaction between the PCF7900 and PCF7953 remain the same. Just the triggering mechanism and RF modulation are different.

Liepa Research Scientist Summary Tests for compliance with FCC Regulations, CFR 47, Part 15 and with Industry Canada RSS-210/Gen, were performed on a TRW, FCC ID: GQ4-54T, IC: 1470A-35T. This device under test (DUT) is subject to the rules and regulations as a Transmitter. In testing completed on May 30, 2012, the DUT tested met the allowed specifications for radiated emissions by 10.6 dB. Conducted emissions are not subject to regulation as the DUT is powered by a 3 VDC b attery.
