Introduction The LA-4137 CFWL adapter allows CF Card slot equipped handheld computer systems to configure, connect to and establish a Spectrum24 network. Features Include: • 50-pin Type I adapter card fully compliant with PCMCIA electrical and mechanical specifications • Low-power operation for battery-powered devices with CF Card slots • Pocket PC and Windows CE driver support • Compact Flash form factor (CF+Type I extended) • Automatic data rate and channel selection of 1, 2, 5.5 and 11 Mbps • Wireless software upgrade • Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption and decryption • An integrated antenna • Card and Socket Services support • Power management [Continuously Aware Mode (CAM) and Power Save Polling (PSP)]. Scope This Quick Reference Guide contains the CFWL adapter installation and configuration instructions for Windows CE/Pocket PC. Preparation Before beginning the installation, verify the hardware package contains: • LA-4137 CFWL adapter with an integrated antenna • Spectrum24 High Rate 11 Mbps Wireless LAN Software CDROM. Note: Verify the model indicated on the card and packaging before use. Contact the Symbol Support Center if an item is missing or not functioning. Supported Devices The LA-4137 CFWL adapter has been qualified by Symbol Technologies to support the following devices: • Palm/Handheld (PH) computers running Windows CE/Pocket PC • Palm OS (i.e. Hand ERA/TRG Pro). Installing the LA-4137 CFWL Adapter The LA-4137 CFWL adapter installation requires: • a handheld computer with a Type I CF Card slot • a desktop computer with a CDROM drive or Web access • a Spectrum24 High Rate 11 Mbps Wireless LAN Software CDROM. To install the CFWL adapter: 1. Insert the CFWL adapter into the CF Card slot. Arrows on the front of the CFWL adapter indicate the insertion point to the slot. 2. Slide in the CFWL adapter until it firmly seats. Caution! Align the CFWL adapter properly when inserting. Insert the CFWL adapter firmly without forcing. Forcing the CFWL adapter into the slot can damage the device or the adapter. Note: If the CFWL adapter does not fit into the CF Card slot, a 68-pin, male reciever PCMCIA adapter is needed. The phantom was filled to a depth of 150mm with 2450MHz Body simulant liquid. The dielectric properties were in accordance with the requirements for the dielectric properties specified in Supplement C (Edition 01-01) to OET Bulletin 65 (Edition 97-01). An initial investigation was carried using a ‘snifer-probe’ and a spectrum analyser, to ascertain location of the hot spot; the hot spot was located on the left-hand side of the device. The client requested a separation distance of 1.0 cm from the left hand side of the device when placed against the side of the flat phantom. The assessment was carried out at this distance for all channels. The Symbol MC9050 had an integral antenna so that the requirement for testing with antenna extended and r…

This report should be read in place of the original. The information contained within this report is intended to show verification of compliance of the Symbol Technologies Inc MC9050 Mobile Computer to the requirements of FCC Specification Part 15. FCC ID H9PMC9050 The unit supplied for testing was a MC9050 Mobile Computer, which offers 2.4GHz 802.11b Wireless LAN and Bluetooth connectivity. The terminal utilizes the approved LA-4137 Symbol Compact Flash 802.11b RLAN radio card and the 21-58466 Symbol Bluetooth module. FCC ID numbers are detailed below: Type: Description Approval FCC IDDate LA4137Symbol Compact Flash RLAN Radio FCC Part15H9PLA4137 21/03/2000 21-58466 Symbol Bluetooth ModuleFCC Part15H9PSNAPPER 10/11/2002 The radios integrated in this terminal are not designed to operate simultaneously and are therefore tested independently. Sub-equipped version (RLAN only) A sub-equipped version of the MC9050 is also available; this version will only offer 802.11b RLAN connectivity as the Symbol Bluetooth module is not included. This report will also be used as an exhibit for a separate FCC application. The FCC ID number of version will be: H9PLA4137. This report details testing carried out in accordance with: • FCC: Part 15.247(c), Radiated Emission Measurement at the Band Edge (Marker Delta method) • FCC: Part 15.247(c), Radiated Emissions • FCC: Part 15.247(b), Maximum Peak Output Power Report No OR6111296/2 Issue 2FCC ID: H9PMC9050Page 5 of 39 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION DURING EMC TESTING The EUT was set-up simulating a typical user installation on the Alternative Open Field Test Site identified on page 37, and tested in accordance with the specification. The test software in the EUT enabled the Test Engineer to select full power and…

Mobile & Wireless Systems Compact Flash Dipole Compact Flash Dipole (CF Dipole) The CF Dipole antenna is a 2-dBi sleeved- dipole that is omni-directional in azimuth plane. The CF Dipole uses a Murata GSC connector to comply with FCC 15.203 “unique coupling” requirement. In its use as a modular transceiver it could be as close as 2 cm of a persons body. CCS SAR report lists a worst- case SAR, averaged over 1g [mW/g] of 0.923 mW/gm at a separation of 20 mm. This transceiver is designed for use in devices in General Population/Uncontrolled Exposure categories.
