Cowden Compliance Certification Services 561F Monterey Road Morgan Hill, CA 95037-9001 RE: MCPS2135, Power Amplifier system Dear Chuck, The following modifications were made to our MCPS2135 power amplifier. These modifications were required to meet the radiated emissions requirements of FCC part 22. 1. Aluminum tape was used to close the second slot opening in the PA module front panel. 2. RF absorber material was added to the backplane assembly (A4E) inside the MCPA modules. 3. Aluminum tape was wrapped around the cover of the A4 BPM Modules to improve their RF shielding. The aluminum tape used for changes 1 and 3 is 3M Tape 1170, 3/8β wide The RF absorber added to A4E assembly is: BSR-I/SS-6M Details of the changes are in the attached rework instruction. Sincerely, Charles S. Robertson, III Exec. Director of Engineering Spectrian, Inc. Page 2 of 2 Zeus Brick Rework Instructions With each BPM removed from the assembly, apply aluminum tape around the edges of the cover on all four sides as shown below. 3/8β tape may be used on the front and sides, and 3/4β tape should be used along the back of the BPM. Be careful not to cover too much of the heatsink fin area. On the back edge of the cover, do not let the tape extend past the back edge of the top of the heatsink. The surface that mates with the backplane should be CLEAN and COMPLETELY FREE OF TAPE. Tape edges as shown No tape on this surface Page 3 of 3
TCB RF Exposure Review Procedure Statement FCC ID:I2OMCPS2135 Transmitter Category Device Type Product Category Approval and Review Procedures Used Specific Procedures: I Amplifier Fixed Transmitters identified in Table 1 of Β§1.1307 Section A SP(9) Grant Condition: Emissions listed correspond to AMPS, TDMA, CDMA, CDPD, GSM and EDGE operations. Output power listed above is for single MCPA module. The max. output power for fourMCPA modules is 500W. The antenna(s) used for this transmitter must be fixed-mounted on outdoor permanent structures. RF exposure compliance is addressed at the time of licensing, as required by theresponsible FCC Bureau(s), including antenna co-location requirements of Β§1.1307(b)(3). The substitution antenna will replace the Eut antenna in the same position and in vertical polarization. The frequency of the signal generator shall be set to the frequencies that were measured on the Eut. The test antenna shall be raised and lowered, if necessary, to ensure that the maximum signal is still being received. The signal generator, output level, shall be adjusted until an equal or a known related level to what was measured from the Eut is obtained in the spectrum analyzer. The radiated power is equal to the power supplied by the signal generator The formula, to calculated the true reading, is: True reading = dBm +GdBd - CL dBm = signal generator output level GdBd = the gain in dBd of the substitution antenna CL = the cable loss The calculated True reading is then compared to the limit and should not exceed the limit. This method must be performed for every emission measured from the Eut. This shall also be repeated for horizontal polarization. Minimum Requirement: Section 22.917(e): The mean power of any spurious and harmonic emissions radiated from base stations transmitters must be attenuated below the mean power of the unmodulated carrier by at least 43 + 10 log (P). This calculates to an absolute limit of β13dBm.
