Introduction The Hugs tag is part of the Hugs Infant Protection System. The tag is attached to the infant using a Hugs tamper-proof strap. From the moment of attachment, the infant is automatically enrolled in the system, and protected against abduction. Cutting the band or attempting to remove the infant without authorization from the protected area will immediately cause an alarm. The Hugs tag is also used with the optional Kisses Mother/Infant Matching component of the Hugs System. Kisses is designed to confi rm that the correct infant is matched with the correct mother each time they are brought together. The Hugs tag emits an audible beep to indicate either a correct or incorrect match. The tag is reusable, and does not interfere with other hospital or personal medical equipment. The patented asymmetrical shape of the tag ensures that it does not pinch or irritate the baby’s skin, and also helps prevent it from being kicked off, while still allowing the ankle joint to move freely. The tag is water proof which allows bath- ing of the infant. It is also resistant to soiling and UV light. Please refer to the instructions included with the Hugs straps for details on attach- ing the tag to an infant. Note: The tag is not sterilized at the fac- tory. You may wish to clean the tag prior to fi rst use. Cleaning the Tag The Hugs tag can be cleaned using a soft- bristle brush and a disinfectant soap or similar solution with no more than 20% alcohol content (for example, Butcher’s Heptagon Disinfectant Cleaner, or Kleen- Aseptic from Metrex Research Corp.). Dry the tag thoroughly before use. A small soft-bristle brush can be used to clean the tag slots. Pass the brush care- fully through the tag slot moving from the bottom to top of the tag. Notes: • Do not use an autoclave to clean the tag or serious damage may result. • Do not soak the tag in alcohol or alco- hol-based cleaners. • Do not immerse the tag when cleaning. Handling Information Battery Handling - this device contains a lithium battery. Do not force open, heat to 100° C, or dispose of in fi re. X-Rays - Do not directly expose the tag to X-rays. (The tag is not affected by stray radiation.) Storage Store Hugs tags at room temperature. Response to TCB Findings Q: In the table on page 11 of the test report, please clarify the spectrum analyzer settings in the bands measurements were taken. And for the “N.D" readings please specify the noise floor of the receiving measurement system Response: For emissions below 1000MHz, the measurement bandwidth is 100khz (120kHz) and for emissions above 1000MHz, the measurement bandwidth is 1000kHz, as per ANSI C63.4. To find and maximize an emission we will (if required) use amplifiers or reduce the resolution bandwidth of the receiver to maximize the emission (if it can be detected). Once it has been maximized we then correct the measurement bandwidth to measure that level. And the “N.D” readings are as follows: N.D at 433MHz - N.F = 28dBuV N.D. at 866MHz - N.F = 35dBuV N.D. at 1083MHz - N.F. = 40dBuV Q: The user manual does not include a statement warning the users against modifications as required by 15.21.
