9 1.4 Installation Procedure 1 1.4.3Installing the EP Cartridge When installing the EP cartridge, take note of the following points: • Do not subject it to direct sunlight or strong light. • When installing the EP cartridge, select a location not subject to strong light and try to finish the installation within 5 minutes. • Do not touch the surface of the photosensitive drum. Do not stand or place the EP cartridge upside down. The drum might get damaged. • A drum shutter protects the photosensitive drum from light. Do not open the drum shutter. • Although the toner is not harmful to the body, wash it off immediately if your hands or clothes are stained with it. • It is recommended to use up the EP cartridge within 1 year after opening it. “5.2.2 Replacing the EP Cartridge” for details when replacing the EP cartridge. Open the top cover. Do not touch any parts inside the printer. Take the EP cartridge out of the box and shake it 7 to 8 times as shown in the diagram. Never throw an EP cartridge into an open flame. It can cause an explosion and you can get burnt. April 16, 2003 14085 Howard Rd Dayton, MD 21036 Federal Communications Commission 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21036 Re: FCC ID:J2LRFHIFX Gentlemen: Submitted herewith is an application for a low frequency transmitter module to be used in a series of printers having essentially same form factor. In accordance with the requirements set forth in DA 00-1407 Released: June 26, 2000, this device incorporates the design features as described and listed below for Part 15 limited modular transmitter approval: 1. The modular transmitter has its own RF shielding. As can be seen from the test site photos, the device was tested outside the host equipment that provided data and power to the unit. This basic pc board is host to the RF transmitter circuit and is used across many printers comprising a family of products having the same basic mechanical and electrical specifications. 2. This modular transmitter only has data inputs from the basic printer and toner cartridge assembly thus ensuring that the module will continue to comply with Part 15 requirements and no conditions of excessive data rates or over-modulation can occur. 3. This modular transmitter receives its DC power from a regulated supply providing power to the main PC board. The design of the power supply circuitry in the printers into which the PC board is installed requires a regulated supply voltage at a fixed level to the PC board thus ensuring the modular transmitter will always receive the correct regulated voltage. 4. The modular transmitter complies with the antenna requirements of Section 15.203 and 15.204(c) and is a small multi-turn inductively coupled loop antenna that couples to the toner cartridge. 5. This modular transmitter was tested in a stand-alone configuration outside the host device during testing. The host device is an ac-powered unit intended to be used as an office/business printer. No modifications were made to the host device. 6. This modular transmitter is labeled with its own FCC ID number, and, if the FCC ID is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into which the module is installed will also display a label referring to the enclosed module. This exterior label will use this wording: “Contains FCC ID: J2LRFHIFX”. 7. This modular transmitter complies with all operating requirements applicable to the transmitter. 8. This modular transmitter complies with applicable RF exposure requirements. Its measured field strength level is 9.8 uV/m at 300 meters. This is very conservative and the level would be much lower. Further, the module is intended to be installed inside a host device which provides additional isolation from the user. Specific installation and operating instructions for users are not required as the only user installed portion of this system is replacement toner cartridges that have very fixed installation procedures. If there are any additional questions, please contact me at 410-531-3439. Sincerely yours, Phillip Inglis TRP/Cetecom bvba

The EUT is positioned on a non- conductive support with a height of 0.80 m above a conductive ground plane that covers the whole chamber. The receiving antennas are conform with specifications ANSI C63.2-1987 clause 15 and ANSI C63.4-1992 clause 4.1.5. These antennas can be moved over the height range between 1.0 m and 4.0 m in order to search for maximum field strength emitted from EUT. The measurement distances between EUT and receiving antennas are indicated in the test set-ups for the various frequency ranges. For each measurement, the EUT is rotated in all three axes until the maximum field strength is received. The wanted and unwanted emissions are received by spectrum analysers where the detector modes and resolution bandwidths over various frequency ranges are set according to requirement ANSI C63-4-1992 clause 4.2. Antennas are conform with ANSI C63.2-1996 item 15. 150 kHz - 30 MHz: Quasi Peak measurement, 9kHz Bandwidth, passive loop antenna . 30 MHz - 200 MHz: Quasi Peak measurement, 120KHz Bandwidth, biconical antenna 200MHz - 1GHz: Quasi Peak measurement, 120KHz Bandwidth, log periodic antenna >1GHz: Average, RBW 1MHz, VBW 10 Hz, wave guide horn All measurement settings are according to FCC 15.35, 15.209. The product fulfils also the requirements for CANADA RSS-210 No deviations from the technical specification(s) were ascertained in the course of the tests performed.
