Software and Firmware Limited Warranty For a period of ninety (90) days, commencing thirty (30) days after shipment from Trimble, Trimble Navigation Limited warrants that Software and Firmware products will substantially conform to the published specifications provided it is used with the Trimble products, computer products, and operating system for which it was designed. Trimble also warrants for such period that the magnetic media on which Software and Firmware are distributed and the documentation are free from defects in materials and workmanship. Such warranty shall not apply in the event or to the extent that data supplied by you contains errors or is improperly or incorrectly installed. During the ninety (90) day warranty period, Trimble will replace defective media or documentation, or correct substantial program errors at no charge. If Trimble is unable to replace defective media or documentation, or correct program errors, Trimble will refund the price paid for the Software or Firmware. These are your sole remedies for any breach of warranty. Trimble Software and Firmware is provided subject to the further terms and conditions of the relevant End User License Agreement included with such product. Hardware Limited Warranty Trimble Navigation Limited products are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year. The warranty period shall commence thirty (30) days after shipment from Trimble’s factory. Warranty service will be provided at a designated Trimble Service Center. Trimble will at its option either repair or replace products that prove to be defective. If Trimble is unable to replace the products, Trimble will refund the price paid for the products. The Customer shall pay all shipping charges for products returned to Trimble for warranty service. Trimble shall pay all shipping charges for the return of products to the Customer. Trimble reserves the right to use either new, or warranted as new, replacement parts to repair the defective product. All used parts shall become the property of Trimble. These are your sole remedies, and Trimble’s sole liability, for any breach of warranty. The above warranty shall not apply to defects resulting from: 1. Improper or inadequate maintenance by the buyer 2. Buyer-supplied software or interfacing 3. Unauthorized modification or misuse 4. Operation outside of the environmental specifications of the product 5. Improper installation, where applicable 6. Lightning or other electrical discharge 7. Fresh or salt water immersion or spray 8. Trimble Navigation 645 North Mary Av., BLD-12, PO Box 3648 Sunnyvale, CA 94088 3642 Federal Communications Commission Authorization and Evaluation Division 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21046 Attention: Reviewing Engineer The CrossCheck ® GSM radio is a regular GSM product exclusively designed for mainly mobile and some fewer fixed-mount applications (Please refer to CrossCheck GSM 1900 data sheet) for Asset management applications like fleet management etc. Included in the users manual (page 56) are definitions for fixed and mobile applications and limitations of the antenna gain as appropriate for each application to ensure that the end user have been provided with the right information to permit them to avoid exceeding RF exposure guidelines as provided in the Commission’s rule. This information includes the following : A minimum separation distance of 20 cm must be maintained between the antenna and the person for this device to satisfy the RF exposure requirements of the FCC. For fixed mount operation, the antenna co-location requirements of Section 1.1307 (b) (3) of the FCC rules must be satisfied. For fixed mount operation, the maximum gain of the antenna must not exceed 7 dBi. For mobile operation the maximum gain of the antenna must not exceed 3 dBi. WARNING! Use of this unit in portable operations is not permitted. The maximum output power allowed for the GSM 1900 radio is 1W, and the maximum gain of the antennas to be used is 7dBi (for fixed installation). The worst-case EIRP is when the highest gain antenna is used: Maximum EIRP = 30 + 7 = 37 dBm (5 W); equivalent to 61.31V/m in 20 cm distance Regarding MPE limits, GPUC environment limits maximum exposure to 1 mW/cm 2. The power density at 0.2 meters from an antenna is: S = E 2 /3770=-37.7H 2 = 0.997 mW/cm 2 < 1 mW/cm 2 Where: S = Power density (mW/cm 2) E = electrical field strength (V/m) Calculations are based on standard formula for calculating field strength at a distance and converting power density using free space impedance. Further the device uses the GSM protocol which TDD format ratio of 1/8 the 0.997 is further reduced by this ratio or it is equivalent to 0.124 mW/cm 2 . Since compliance is shown for the worst-case condition for the fixed installation, compliance for the mobile application with an antenna gain of maximum of 3 dBi is assured. Rule Part 24.232(b) specifies that "Mobile/portable stations are limited to 2 watts e.i.r.p. peak power..." and 24.232(c) specifies that "Peak transmit power must be measured over any interval of continuous transmission using instrumentation calibrated in terms of an rms-equivalent voltage." Method of Measurement: 1. In an anechoic antenna test chamber, a half-wave dipole antenna for the frequency band of interest is placed at the reference center of the chamber. An RF Signal source for the frequency band of interest is connected to the dipole with a cable that has been constructed to not interfere with the radiation pattern of the antenna. A known (measured) power (Pin) is applied to the input of the dipole, and the power received (Pr) at the chamber's probe antenna is recorded. 2. A "reference path loss" is established as Pin + 2.1 - Pr. 3. The EUT is substituted for the dipole at the reference center of the chamber. The EUT is put into CW test mode and a scan is performed to obtain the radiation pattern. 4. From the radiation pattern, the co-ordinates where the maximum antenna gain occurs is identified. 5.
