Record the results in the resident’s records. It is important to test the bracelet before putting it into use and daily thereafter. Failure to do so could result in injury to or death to a person in your care. Dispose of the Universal Tester immediately when low battery is indicated on the display. When testing the bracelet, make regular inspections to check for frayed or loose bands. Stanley-Senior Technologies recommends the removal of the bracelet during x-ray or MRI procedures. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Stanley- Stenior Technologies could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. Features of the WanderGuard ® Universal Tester The Universal Tester is a hand-held, battery-powered device used to test WanderGuard door monitors and WanderGuard bracelets. When using the tester to test bracelets, the tester will detect if a bracelet is working properly, the individual ID number of the resident wearing the bracelet and when the bracelet is reaching its “replace bracelet” date. The Universal Tester will indicate when it’s battery life is low. When the battery power is low, “LO” will flash three times whenever a button is pressed. When this happens, the Universal Tester needs to be replaced immediately. The tester is guaranteed to operate for at least one year*. A dimming display is also an indication that the battery is low and the tester needs to be replaced. The Universal Tester has an ambient light sensor built-in. When the tester is used in low light conditions, it will automatically back-light the LCD display. Using the RECALLbutton will display the result of the last bracelet test. 3 DOOR TEST BRACELET TEST RECALL AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR * Based on testing 30 bracelets and 10 doors per day. 4 Testing Door Monitors The Universal Tester will test all WanderGuard ® door monitors except the FirstQ TM series. Test door monitors at least weekly on each shift with all surrounding power devices turned on to maximize possible electromagnetic interference. If using a PIR device, refer to the instructions that are shipped with it. To test a WanderGuard door monitor that has WanderGuard ® System Status Display installed: 1. Open the door(s). 2. Move to 3' in front of the middle of the door, or middle of doorway if testing a double door system, and hold the tester at waist level. 3. Press the DOORbutton. The LED above the button will turn on and segments on the LCD display will animate indicating the tester is transmitting. “??????”will be displayed on the System Status Display. (A single button press activates the tester for 2 seconds, or the button can be held down to transmit continuously.) 4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3, holding the tester at ankle, knee, and head level. 5. Move to the right side of the door and repeat Steps 2 through 4. 6. Move to the left side of the door and repeat Steps 2 through 4. To test a WanderGuard door monitor WITHOUT a WanderGuard ® System Status Display installed: 1. Open the door(s). 2. Move to 3' in front of the middle of the door, or middle of doorway if testing a double door system, and hold the tester at waist level. 3. Press the DOORbutton. The LED above the button will turn on and segments on the LCD display will animate indicating the tester is transmitting. The alarm on the door monitor will sound. Reset the alarm. (A single button press activates the tester for 2 seconds, or the button can be held down to transmit continuously.) 4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3, holding the tester at ankle, knee, and head level. 5. 31 January 2006 RE: Senior Technologies, Inc. FCC ID: LA5IDUT001 Below is our response to your comments dated 27 January 2006: 1. Portable device - requires X, Y, Z axis positioning. The test report does not include information on whether this positioning was performed during testing. The EUT was positioned in a orientation that produced maximum emissions. A statement to that effect has been added to the report. 2. Company Number code for IC requires letter A added. This will affect labeling exhibit. Revised label will need to be uploaded showing IC: 2459A-102938. The request for IC approval has been removed; the customer has decided not to market the product in Canada at this time. 3. IC has a Restricted Band at 495 - 505 kHz. This device appears to operate at 508 kHz with 20 kHz bandwidth (not to mention any tolerance on the fundamental which is typically loose in this range). Therefore portion of the fundamental and by-products are falling in Restricted Band and this is not allowed for IC. Need to see plots that support the fact that this is not happening. The request for IC approval has been removed; the customer has decided not to market the product in Canada at this time. 4. You stated extrapolation for fundamental was done. The report should show this as well as how and using what factors. NOTE < 30 MHz allows limits/testing extrapolation of 40 dB, not just 20 dB. The extrapolation was redone using the spreadsheet you provided, thank you. The fundamental level is such that the antenna distance was required to be 1meter. 5. How was loop antenna manipulated? Note it is not simply H/V, but involves rotation per C63.4. Can not adequately tell if this was done from the photos or test report. Please include statement in test report. A statement to that effect has been added to the report. 6. Data for Fundamental should be place in table (either separate or with spurious data). Please revise test report. Fundamental data can be found in Section 4.3 of the revised report "R110905-01A.pdf". 7. I am unable to obtain same limits as used, even for 20 dB per decade for all readings obtained. Please explain how limits were derived. I can help you to get a program that will help figure the limits for 15.209 if you are interested. There was no connection to the AC mains supply network, nor is it an option, the user manual instructs the owner to dispose of the EUT when the battery is low on charge. 1.2.2 Radiated Emissions Compliance to 47 CFR Part 15.209 was tested in accordance with the methods of ANSI/IEEE C63.4, 2003 and the FCC required technique for measurements under 30MHz. Several configurations were examined and the results presented represent a worst-case scenario. The EUT was placed on a wooden table approximately 80cm high and centered on a 4m diameter turntable. The table was rotated to find the angles of maximum emissions and the antenna was moved from 1m to 4m in both vertical and horizontal positions. All measurements were taken at a distance of 3meters or closer when specified in the report. The X, Y and Z axis of the EUT were examined for the worst case emissions. The loop orientation relative to the product was also positioned in order to maximize the emissions. The EUT sends out a test signal to WanderGuard door monitors to detect if they are operational, as well as receives signals from WanderGuard bracelets to detect if they are operational. The EUT transmits at 508kHz. 2.1.1 Identification: WanderGuard Universal Tester Model 18029 2.1.2 EUT received date: 9 January 06 2.1.3 EUT tested dates: 9, 10 January 06 2.1.4 Manufacturer: Stanley Senior Technologies 2.1.5 Serial number: FCC1 2.2 Laboratory description All testing was performed at the NCEE Lincoln facility, which is a FCC (100875) and Industry Canada (4294) registered lab. The EUT was tested at 3m. See figure 1 for test setup, this orientation provided the maximum emissions. Radiated emissions measurements of the EUT running in both transmit and receive modes from 490kHz to 1GHz can be found in Appendix B. Table 1 contains the tabular data from these plots. The peak levels of the transmitter were not above the ambient limits for an intentional radiator. Figures 7 through 11 show screen captures of the maximized fundamental transmission frequency at various distances from the antenna (1m, 1.5m, 2m and 3m, as well as 1m in receive mode). This shows that the EUT is indistinguishable from the general ambient noise at distances greater than 2m from the antenna. The limit line as shown in Figures 5 and 6 is NOT correct; the correct limits are shown in Tables 1 and 2. The fundamental frequency of 0.508MHz had a maximum reading of 64dBμ…
