American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 January 28, 2003 RE: FCC ID: LJPNPL-3 Attention: Kare Oksanen I have a few comments on this Application. 1. Please note that the ERP and EIRP values in EMC report are exactly the same as the power in the SAR report. However, the type power measurement (conducted or ERP/EIRP) is not specified. Please note that these would appear to be measured on two different sites. I would expect that in ERP and EIRP measurements on different locations to be different. I would also expect that conducted on one site and ERP/EIRP on another site to be different values. Please explain what type measurement was done in the SAR report (conducted power or ERP/EIRP). Please also verify that the device power was measured at each location and that even though the same values are given in the separate reports, these values are true and accurate as measured at each site to the best of your knowledge.. 2. FYI - Please note that this device cannot be granted under the new rules that are to take affect Feb 18, 2003. Prior to Feb 18, 2003 this device can only be granted under the existing rules. Dennis Ward mailto:[email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.
RESPONSE 1 (1) 1. There is no external antenna connector available in LJPNPL-3, and therefore all power measurements are done radiated. Unfortunately, ERP/EIRP texts were missing from SAR report. Since SAR laboratory does not have possibility to do radiated power output measurements, a separate accredited EMC laboratory was used. Since the same sample was used for both EMC and SAR measurements, radiated power measurements were re-used in SAR report. Given values are accurate to our best capability. 2. FYI - Please note that this device cannot be granted under the new rules that are to take affect Feb 18, 2003. Prior to Feb 18, 2003 this device can only be granted under the existing rules. Acknowledged.
