American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 September 10, 2002 RE: FCC ID: LJPRH-13 Attention: Kare Oksanen I have a few comments on this Application. 1 The following accessories are listed in the manual – LPS-1 loop set, HAD-8 TTY Adapter, HDC-9P Headset, ACP-8U rapid travel charger. Please explain why these accessories were not tested during SAR evaluation. 2 No testing appears to have been done using the external antenna port. For example, what antenna is used and what is the ERP produced using this external antenna port? Please explain. Dennis Ward mailto:[email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. 1 The following accessories are listed in the manual – LPS-1 loop set, HAD-8 TTY Adapter, HDC-9P Headset, ACP-8U rapid travel charger. Please explain why these accessories were not tested during SAR evaluation. LPS-1: It was determined at the time of testing that simply testing a headset would fulfill requirements of FCC RF exposure guidelines. Loop set did not have a notable effect on SAR compared to HDE-1 in comparision measurement. HAD-8: In OET Bulletin 65 C it is told that use of signal leads not normally required in normal use should be avoided in SAR testing. This adapter is not suitable to be used together with body-worn accessories neither do we consider it normal to use TTY while holding phone at the ear. HDC-9P connects to the phone similarily than HDE-1. Therefore, these accessories were considered to be identical in RF exposure sense. ACP-8U: In OET Bulletin 65 C it is told that external DC power adapter should not be used in SAR tests. 2 No testing appears to have been done using the external antenna port. For example, what antenna is used and what is the ERP produced using this external antenna port ? Please explain. Antenna port has been fully tested and conducted results are listed in the test report. Car kit is eventually the only available application for antenna port, and users choice of antenna is limited with instructions to connect only an external antenna with maximum gain of 3dBi. Considering the antenna cable loss, actual gain is much lower.
