To maintain compliance with FCC’s RF exposure guidelines, for body-worn operation, this radio has been tested and meets the FCC RF exposure guidelines when used with Midland Radio Corp. accessories supplied or designated for this product. Use of other accessories may not ensure compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines. (Tested with Headset Model: AVP-1) IMPORTANT NOTICE, FCC LICENSE REQUIRED FOR GMRS OPERATION (Only Applicable for GMRS Radio Use in the United States) The GXT860/895 Series operates on GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) frequencies which require an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) license. You must be licensed prior to operating on channels 1 - 7 or 15 - 22, which comprise the GMRS channels of the GXT860/895 Series. Serious penalties could result for unlicensed use of GMRS channels, in violation of FCC rules, as stipulated in the Communications Acts Sections 501 and 502 (amended). You will be issued a call sign by the FCC which should be used for station identification when operating the radio on GMRS channels. You should also cooperate by engaging in permissible transmissions only, avoiding channel interference with other GMRS users, and being prudent with the length of their transmission time. To obtain a license or ask questions about the license application, contact the FCC at 1-888-CALL FCC or go to the FCC's website: http://www .fcc.govand request form 605. Exposure To Radio Frequency Energy Your Midland radio is designed to comply with the following national and international standards and guidelines regarding exposure of human being to radio frequency electromagnetic energy: - United States Federal Communications Commission, Code of Federal Regulations: 47 CFR part 2 sub-part J - American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) C95. 1-1992 - Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) C95. 1-1999 Edition - National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) of the United States, Report 86, 1986 - International Commission on Non-lonizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) 1998 To control your exposure and ensure compliance with the general population or uncontrolled environment exposure limits, transmit no more than 50% of the time. The radio generates measurable RF energy exposure only when transmitting. IMPORTANT:Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by MIDLAND RADIO CORP. could void your right to operate this unit. Your radio is set up to transmit a regulated signal on an assigned frequency. It is against the law to alter or adjust the settings inside the COMMUNICATOR to exceed those limitations. Any adjustment to your radio must be made by qualified technicians. Model GXT860/895 Series Page 3 www.midlandradio.com LCD DISPLAY CONTROLS 1. KEY LOCK ICON – Indicates KEY LOCK mode is on. 2. Held to face position For held to face position the flat section of a SAM Phantom or a flat phantom is used. The center of the radiating structure is to set on the middle position of the flat phantom. The distance between sample and flat phantom is 2.5 cm. For the measurement head tissue simulating liquid is used. Belt Clip/Holster Configuration Test configurations for body-worn operated EUTs are carried out while the belt-clip and/or holster is attached to the EUT and placed against a flat phantom in a regular configuration. An EUT with a headset output it tested with a headset connected to the device. Body dielectric parameters are used. There are two categories for accessories for body-worn operation configurations: 1.accessories not containing metallic components 2.accessories containing metallic components. When the EUT is equipped with accessories not containing metallic components the tests are done with the accessory that dictates the closest spacing to the body. For accessories containing metallic parts a tes…

Listed Power is ERP. SAR compliance for body-worn operating configurations is limited to the specific body-worn accessories, such as belt-clips and holsters, tested for this filing. End-users must be informed of the body-worn operating requirements for satisfying RF exposure compliance. This device is authorized to operate in the following radio services: FRS (Part 95B) or GMRS (Part 95A). There must be an informational insert inside the box (product package) or the Users Manual must include information that clearly informs the consumer (buyer/owner) when the radio is transmitting on GMRS frequencies, that operation on GMRS frequencies requires an FCC license and such operation is subject to additional rules specified in 47 C.F.R. Part 95. The reported SAR values are for a maximum duty factor of 50 %. The highest reported SAR values for head and body-worn accessory are 0.62 W/kg and 1.38W/kg, respectively.
