You must be licensed prior to operating on channels 1 - 7 or 15 - 22, which comprise the GMRS channels of the GXT900/950 Series. Serious penalties could result for unlicensed use of GMRS channels, in violation of FCC rules, as stipulated in the Communications Act's Sections 501 and 502 (amended). You will be issued a call sign by the FCC which should be used for station identification when operating the radio on GMRS channels. You should also cooperate by engaging in permissible transmissions only, avoiding channel interference with other GMRS users, and being prudent with the length of their transmission time. Your radio is set up to transmit a regulated signal on an assigned frequency. It is against the law to alter or adjust the settings inside the COMMUNICATOR to exceed those limitations. SCRAMBLER ICON – Indicates when the Scrambler feature is on. 3. KEY LOCK ICON – Indicates KEY LOCK mode is on. 4. VOX ICON– Indicates when VOX mode is active. 5. NOAA WEATHER (WX) BAND ICON– Indicates when the radio is in Weather Band mode. 6. CHANNEL NUMBER– Changes from 1~22 on GMRS/FRS band (1~10 on WX band). 7. PRIVACY CODE– Indicates Privacy Code selected by user (oF~38/oF~104). 8. GROUP MODE ICON– Indicates when the Group Mode is on. 9. VIBRATE-ALERT ICON– Indicates when the Vibrate-Alert feature is on. 10. RECEIVE (RX) ICON– Indicates radio is receiving a transmission. 11. TRANSMIT (TX) ICON– Indicates radio is transmitting a signal. 12. TRANSMIT POWER LEVEL ICON– Indicates TX Power setting (H/M/L) 13. PRIVACY CODE ICON– Indicates Privacy Code setting (CTCSS/DCS). 14. POWER/VOLUME KNOB– Turn clock- wise to turn the power on and increase the volume level. Turn counter-clockwise to decrease the volume level and turn the power off. 15. PTT Button– Press and hold to transmit voice communication. 16. CALL/LOCK Button– Press to send a CALL Alert signal. Press and hold to turn KEY LOCK on/off. 17. There must be an informational insert inside the box (product package) or the User�s Manual must include information that clearly informs the consumer (buyer/owner) when the radio is transmitting on GMRS frequencies, that operation on GMRS frequencies requires an FCC license and such operation is subject to additional rules specified in 47 C.F.R. Part 95. This transmitter has been tested for SAR compliance in Push-to-Talk and body-worn operating configurations. Hand held and body-worn SAR compliance is limited to the specific antennas / belt-clips / holsters / accessories tested for this device. Users must be provided with transmitter operating conditions for satisfying RF exposure compliance. This device complies with OET Bulletin 65 for General Population use.
