Users Manual

TXB-ZBM Module Installation Instructions Purpose of the TXB-ZBM Module The TXB-ZBM Module (“module”) is a module that can be installed in applicable Remote Technologies Inc. (“RTI”) products only. This module is not sold retail by RTI, nor is it provided by RTI as an OEM product to other manufacturers or companies for installation into their products. RTI and its authorized Contract Manufacturers are the only authorized installers of this module and it is not provided as a field or end-user upgrade. When properly and permanently installed in an applicable RTI product, the module will provide 2.4GHz Zigbee communication only with other RTI Zigbee enabled devices. Installation Instructions When the module is installed in an RTI product it is permanently affixed to the host product and cannot be removed without the use of additional equipment. This module is also not visible, nor accessible by the end-user. Any attempted access or removal of the module by anyone other than RTI or its authorized Contract Manufacturers is strictly prohibited. When installed in a host RTI product, the host RTI product will display verbiage to the effect of the following in accordance with FCC 47 CFR Part 15 Section 15.212: Contains Transmitter Module FCC ID: MMURTI2100 Contains IC: 3166A‐RTI2100 or Contains FCC ID: MMURTI2100 Contains IC: 3166A‐RTI2100 The Operation Manual of the host RTI product will also display the following information in accordance with FCC 47 CFR Part 15 Section 15.19: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the device. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference. (2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Operational Description

TXB-ZBM Module Operational Description Purpose of the TXB-ZBM Module The intended use of the TXB-ZBM Module is to provide bi-directional 2.4GHz communication between products containing the TXB-ZBM or like 2.4GHz transceiver. TXB-ZBM Transceiver The TXB-ZBM transceiver IC is an integrated microprocessor and Zigbee transceiver. The microprocessor runs off of a 24MHz crystal. When a user presses a command on a bi-directional enabled remote control, for example, containing the TXB-ZBM to start the play control on a DVD Player, the TXB-ZBM module will take in RS232 data from the remote control and using Offset Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (OQPSK) modulation, it transmits a 2.4GHz command. When receiving data, it receives the 2.4GHz signal from the source, and converts the signal to serial data that is then transmitted to the destination control product, in this case, the remote control. TXB-ZBM Antenna The TXB-ZBM Transceiver Module utilizes the Antenova A5645 SMD Antenna. It is a 20.5mm x 3.6mm x 3.3mm surface mount antenna with a peak gain of 1.8dBi designed for 2.4GHz applications. This antenna is not externally accessible when the module is installed in an end product.

The difference is the result of tolerances in the measurement system that cannot be completely eliminated. To the extent that technology allows us, it has been our aim to minimize this error. Measurement uncertainty is a statistical expression of measurement error qualified by a probability distribution. A measurement uncertainty estimation has been performed for each test per our internal quality document WP 342. The estimation is used to compare the measured result with its "true" or theoretically correct value. The expanded measurement uncertainty (K=2) for each test is on each data sheet. Our measurement data meets or exceeds the measurement uncertainty requirements of the applicable specification; therefore, the test data can be compared directly to the specification limit to determine compliance. The calculations for estimating measurement uncertainty are based upon ETSI TR 100 028 (or CISPR 16-4-2 as applicable), and are available upon request.
