Breeze User instruction manual Contents: Introduction What’s the deal with alcohol? How does alcohol affect my driving? Specifications Mobile app Using Breeze How to interpret the results? Product Maintenance Warranty Disclaimer 3 3 4 5 7 8–11 12 13 14 14 Introduction: Breeze™ is a portable, wireless Breathalyzer that detects the pres- ence of alcohol on your breath. Using the Breathometer app on your supported smartphone; a simple 5 second blow through the mouthpiece on Breeze is all that is required to obtain your estimated blood alcohol level in seconds. Breeze is designed to detect and measure alcohol (ethanol) in hu- man breath through the use of an Electrochemical Fuel Cell sensor and patented software. These results are represented through the Breathometer app on your smartphone using the following ratio of breath alcohol to blood alcohol 2,100:1. This means that 2,100ml of alveolar air contains the same amount of alcohol as 1ml of blood. This is the same ratio law enforcement agencies and hospitals use when a blood sample is not available. Using this ratio, measure- ments from the breath can be used to calculate a respective level of intoxication. Breeze will detect levels between 0.00% - 0.20% BAC with law enforcement grade accuracy. What’s the deal with alcohol? Millions of people consume alcohol on a daily basis, so many feel they understand how it impacts them. We wanted to provide a little more detailed information to explain why knowing your BAC level might be very important. Beyond understanding yourself a little better, you can also start to learn that what you eat, what you are drinking and how fast you may be consuming alcohol may effect you in different ways. With every sip consumed, alcohol is absorbed by your body and makes its way through your mouth, stomach, small intestine, heart, brain, liver, kidneys, lungs and skin. 3 Alcohol is a depressant. It has a relaxing effect on the muscles in your body. The muscles of your eyes relax and lose focus. Your eyesight will become fuzzy and you may experience double vision. As we’ve said, your brain is affected. Brain activity is slowed. Your judgment, reflexes and coordination are all negatively affected. Some vision impairments that occur when you have been drinking include: -Narrowing of your field of vision -Reduction in your depth perception -Decreased ability to see in darkness -Increased sensitivity to glare and a longer time for your eyes to re-adjust from glare Some mental (brain) impairments that occur when you have been drinking include: -Reduced awareness of danger -Becoming over-confident and reckless -Decision-making becomes difficult -Reduction in balance -Slowed reflexes -Impaired judgement How does alcohol affect my driving? “We can’t emphasize enough how dangerous it is for you to drink and drive. Your vision and your brain are the most important factors to driving safely. If you jeopardize either one by drinking and driving, you are likely to be involved in a serious or fatal collision.” From California Department of Motor Vehicles (http://www.dmv.ca.gov) 4 Specifications: Size: 2.3”D x 1.88” W x 0.59” H Weight: .97 oz Warm up time: No Warm Up Time- Sensor response to 5 seconds Recovery time: 40 to 60 Seconds after test Blowing time: 5 seconds Battery life: Approximately 15 months, or 2,500 tests BAC range: 0.000 – 0.250% BAC Operating temp: 32F – 90F (0C – 32C) Calibration: Not Required prior to 5,000 tests Sensor: Electrochemical Fuel Cell 5 Accessories: Your Breeze™ package included three optional accessories: Mouthpiece fits over the blow-tube opening on the Breeze and is provided for times when you may want to share the product with another person, or may be wearing lip gloss, lipstick or topical mate- rial that you do not wish to have remaining on your Breeze product. The Mouthpiece, when removed from Breeze, can be washed with soap and water, or run through a dishwasher safely. Keychain attachment can be used to assist in carrying Breeze, so you know you will have it with you when needed. The Keychain attachment must be removed prior to using the Breeze, as it covers the blow-tube opening on the product. The Keychain attachment can also help protect the blow-tube opening by keeping it covered and more protected from contaminants or debris between uses. Clip attachment provides for another useful way to carry the Breeze. Attach Breeze to your pocket, purse or use it as a money clip. Another convenient way to keep Breeze with you wherever you go. The Clip attachment can also help protect the blow-tube opening by keeping it covered and more protected from contam- inants or debris between uses. Clip must be removed prior to using the product, as it covers the blow tube. 6 Mobile App: In order to use Breeze, you will need to download the Breathometer App for your Smartphone.
