NexusData Transmitter Installation and Initialization General In order to comply with FCC RF Exposure requirements, the AMR unit must be installed in such a way that there is a 2m (6’ 8”) separation distance between it and all persons during normal operation. Assembly 1. Disassemble old index cover. 2. Disassemble the index from the meter. 3. Attach the Transmitter to the meter, matching its shaft to the meter shaft. Use four 56m”m screws to secure the Transmitter in its position. Verify that the shaft enables some free rotation, indicating that the shafts are properly aligned. 4. Assemble the index on the Transmitter, using two 10m”m screws, matching its shaft to the Transmitter shaft. 5. Attach new index cover to the Transmitter, using four 20m”m screws. 6. Initialize the AMR unit using the Mint handheld terminal/programmer: 6.1. Press 1 from the General Menu below, for WO (work order) by route to initialize the next AMR unit. 6.2. Browse work order (< and > keys) and verify the details. Then proceed with the ENTER key. Example: → → 1. WO by route 2. Add WO 3. Read TX 4. Program TX WO: 1/ 36 to do > Loc: Garage/Left Address: 1678 N Piedmont Rd, Atlanta, GA 30303 Key in '1’ Key ENTER 6.3. Verify that meter parameters (meter number, number of dials, index drive and index pressure) presented are correct. Then select ‘4’ (CCF Reading) and enter the reading appearing on the index. Example 6.4. Press on the program key to initializing the AMR unit. 7. Cover the outdoor screws using seals. FCC Warning Modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the user authority to operate the equipment under FCC Rules. → Key ‘4’ Enter Reading as appears on index (e.g. 1234) Key ENTER Meter: 111222333 1. The “Residential” wireless transmitters for gas metering applications, are end-points of the NexusData automatic meter reading solution. These modules operate in NexusData’s Fixnet, the network that achieves long range coverage while maintaining a highly reliable communication link. The devices transform a utility’s existing meter base into a high-powered data collection resource that can drive new sources of information to better manage operating costs, customer service, and energy deployment. Transmitted messages contain meter reading data, status, and online alerts. Readings can be transmitted in pre-selected intervals, typically daily. Alert messages are transmitted immediately, once the module detects an exception such as tampering. The easy installation, cost of the module and long life make NexusData the smart choice for your data collection needs. Unique Features By far, the most powerful advantage of all NexusData modules is the powerful one- watt transmitter that requires fewer receive sites and keeps deployment costs to a minimum. “Residential” units are fueled by lithium batteries which, because of NexusData’s optimization technology, will last over ten years under normal operating conditions. The units are designed and manufactured to withstand even the most punishing environments. They are housed in a sealed, unobtrusive, weatherproof enclosure and are installed between the meter and the meter index. A key characteristic of all NexusData meter modules is their ease of installation. The transmitter is delivered as a self-contained module. A handheld terminal with a wireless interface, programs the initial settings—initial ID information, reading intervals, etc- eliminating the need to open the module. Field technicians can retrofit existing meters in a matter of minutes, without disrupting service or inconveniencing customers. A separate sealed and waterproof battery compartment makes replacing batteries equally easy by simply removing the index cover and sliding in a new battery pack in place of the old one. Compatibility The “Residential” portfolio includes modules adapted for gas meters manufactured by American Meter, Invensys/Equimeter (Rockwell), Schlumberger (Sprague), and others.
Product Description The device is a one-way messaging (burst) radio transmitter. It transmits 1 watt Direct Conversion, Direct sequence spread spectrum through a 0 dbi printed inverted-F antenna. The transmitter frequency band is 903.8-926.2 MHz and channel spacing is 400 KHz; i.e. it has 58 channels. The transmitter local oscillator is synthesized using crystal oscillator reference of 15MHz. The modulation technique is SPSP Direct sequence BPSK with a chip rate of 1 Mchip/sec. The PN codes are 255 maximal length sequences. This device measure the amount of gas that a consumer uses, and transmits the data to a workstation via base-station.

Chris, Please be advised as follows: 1. Both NexusData products that were submitted, have the same transmission pattern of 4x160 msec pulses every 24 hours, as show n in the attached timing diagram. <<Doc1.doc>> 2. The statement in your April 17, 2001 email is acceptable by NexusData. 3. The transmission duty cucle factor is : %=100x0.16/3600x6=0.00074% (based on a 6 hour cycle). I hope this information is satisfactory . I will email you separately concerning future units. Best regards Shaike Raz EMC Laboratory Manager EMC Laboratory ITL (Product Testing) Ltd.
