1. The "high noise level" is caused by the high RF attenuation of the spectrum Analyzer. The attenuation was set so high because of the fundamental signal in order not to overload the input. 2. I attach a excel sheet with the data measured in Saarbruecken and our values put in this list in red. We observed a higher difference for the left hand position. Due to the situation we do these tests on our own costs we reported only the data. Saarbruecken had our full report available and confirmed that the plots looked similar. For validation reasons we will do further comparison beginning next year with other phones.

Answers: 1. This phone uses a Windows based plat form called "Pocket PC". If the manual is talking about pocket it is used in the sense of the Software. This has nothing to do with carrying the device in the pocket. 2. The 29.8 dBm was the maximum power the device could be set. The rated power is the theoretical power. There is no scaling necessary since this is the factory setting for this phones. 3. The device is using a GPRS class which has only one timeslot for uplink and 4 timeslots for downlink. So the phone was measured at its maximum. 4. This is only fro a memory card. It was checked during SAR tests that the card has no influence. The tests were then done with no card inserted. This was expected since the card slot is far away from the hot spot. 5. 10 mm for the coarse scan and for the zoom scan 3.2 mm (X) and 6.4 mm (Y,Z) 6. Isotropy at 1900 MHz: Axial isotropy varies from probe to probe. The IXP-050 probe used as an example had axial isotropy's assessed by NPL as follows: 900MHz ± 0.13 dB 1800MHz ± 0.11 dB 1900MHz ± 0.123 dB The largest of these, ± 0.13 dB equates to ±3% DCP is not frequency dependant. It depends of the type of modulation. Calibration: Full calibration was done at 1900 MHz Please refer to page 4 of 19 of Appendix C Paragraph 7 sentence 1 Early pages of the report are a general description only. 7. The amplifier setting was 2x Integration time 120 msec 8. For site dependent uncertainties we used numbers estimated / calculated according the IEE 1528. Regarding the integration time we used the following calculation For an integration time of int t = 20 milliseconds (the SAR probes sampling rate), if 1 pulse was missed, using Section E2.8 equation (E.3) of IEEE 1528 Only 1 pulse will be missed as a GSM standard TDMA signal has an idle frame of 1 in 26 over a period of 120 milliseconds. No other integration time figure is required as this is covered by the CW/TDMA investigation and linearity The Indexsar probe amplifiers have the facility for increasing the integration time in multiples of 20mS (50 Hz) or 16.67mS (60Hz). It is recommended that the integration period is set to 6 cycles for GSM phone testing. This reduces the uncertainty above as a good match with the frame rate can be achieved. The uncertainty above is reduced to ±0.4%. 9. This angles are guaranteed by construction using a upright head phantom. 10. The liquid parameters are in Annex C of the report. We changed the templates for future reports and include the parameters in the plots. 11. The z-axis scan is not done. The documentation shows that the liquid is 15 cm above the scan area, which is an alternative method. 12. I attach a copy of the user manual. Please don't publish this manual without the permission of the manufacturer.

Applicant: High Tech Computer Corp Correspondence Reference Number: 7811 731 Confirmation Number: TC920783 Response to correspondence reference number: 7811 Spherical isotropy: The IndexSAR probes’s spherical isotropy was only reported for 900 MHz. At other frequencies spherical isotropy was checked. At all frequencies the spherical isotropy was similar to the values reported for 900 MHz. Spherical isotropy values over frequency will follow a distribution similar to the distribution shown for axial isotropy. DCP, test software & probe calibration : Calibration for probe S/N:0106, which was used for the testing in question, was performed on 07/10/2002. Therefore the “P1528comp” document dated 1/29/03 is not applicable to this calibration. As you mentioned IndexSAR has changed their software and calibration procedures. We use the latest versions of the software to perform SAR tests. In October 2002 we purchased another probe S/N:0123. Probe S/N:0106 was kept as a backup, but was never needed. Probe S/N: 0106 is now at IndexSAR being calibrated to their latest procedures. This demonstrates that we are using the current procedures. As further assurance we will list the software version in our reports and as always we will include the probe calibration documents in our reports. Integration time: For an integration time of tint = 20 milliseconds (the SAR probes sampling rate), if 1 pulse was missed, this induces the following uncertainty: -3 U= 2. 4.6 * 10 tin U = ± 2.23% Only 1 pulse will be missed as a GSM standard TDMA signal has an idle frame of 1 in 26 over a period of 120 milliseconds. No other integration time figure is required as this is covered by the CW/TDMA investigation and linearity. The IndexSAR probe amplifiers have the facility for increasing the integration time in multiples of 20 mSec (50Hz) or 16.67 mSec (60Hz). We perform SAR testing of GSM devices with the integration period set to 6 cycles. This reduces the uncertainty shown above as a better match with the frame rate is achieved. The uncertainty shown above is then reduced to ±0.4%. Linearity: 0.125 dB is the correct value. We will make sure we use the correct values according to P1528 uncertainty procedures. Detection limits: According to the SAR equipment manufacturer this item is not applicable, providing that the measured SAR is within 0.1W/kg and 10W/kg. Measurement device: According to the SAR equipment manufacturer this item is not applicable, uncertainties are taken into account in the probe calibration. Response time: According to the SAR equipment manufacturer this item is not applicable, the probe is stationary for a time period greater than twice the response time before the measured SAR is logged. Noise: The noise level is periodically measured and is less than 0.01 W/kg. With this level of noise, the uncertainty due to noise can be neglected.

Grant Notes
Power listed is EIRP. This device contains 900MHz and 1800GSM functions not operational in US territories. This filing is only applicable for 1900MHz PCS band. SAR compliance for body-worn operating configurations is limited to the specific configuration tested for this filing. Body-worn operations are restricted to belt-clips, holsters or similar accessories that have no metallic component in the assembly and must provide at least 7 mm separation between the device and the users body. End-users must be provided with the appropriate information for satisfying RF exposure compliance. Highest report SAR values: Head = 0.888W/kg; Body = 0.801 W/kg
