Mike Kuo From: [email protected] Sent: June17 2004 Thursday 3:00 AM To: Mike Kuo Cc: Lai, Harris (E-mail); CCS-Taiwan, Ting (E-mail); [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: High Tech Computer FCC ID:NM8DF, AN04T3930 6/17/2004 Hi Mike, Here are the replies. Question #1: Please provide clear copy of internal photos. The requirement for the photos are to show the component values. Ans #1: A clear copy of internal photos are attached as follows. Question #2: In the way the operational description is written, it looks like there two different devices. One is PDA with WLAN and the other one is PDA with Bluetooth. In this TCB application, review is performed on single device which is PDA with WLAN and Bluetooth under proposed FCC ID number : NM8DF. Please provide a marketing statement that FCC ID number :NM8DF will only be affixed on PDA when both WLAN and Bluetooth radios are existed on one PDA. Ans #2: A marketing statement is attached as follows. Question #3: Please provide RF conducted spurious emission plots from 30 MHz to 10th harmonic with WLAN mode. Ans #3: The RF conducted spurious emission plots are added. Please refer to the revised test report below. Question #4: Page 15 of SAR test report, body liquid was used but the heading for the tabular data indicated head liquid was used. Please make necessary correction. Ans #4: Correction is made. Please refer to the revised SAR test report below. Question #5: Based upon user manual, this PDA has optional extended 2880 mAh Lithium-ion battery. Additional batteries were not tested during SAR and there is no information on which battery was used during final Sar evaluation. Ans #5: A 1440 mAh Lithium-ion battery was adopted during the SAR testing. According to our finding, the 2880 mAh Lithium- ion is thicker twice times than the 1440 mAh one. Hence, this shoud not affect the compliance with the SAR requirements. Question #6: RF exposure warning statement does not include collocated transmitting restriction. Suggest text can be " This PDA has been tested and demonstrated compliance when Bluetooth and WLAN are transmitting simultaneously. This PDA must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter." Ans #6: Wordings of colocated transmitting restriction are added. Please refer to the revised user manual below. Thank you for your advice. And, your earliest issuance of the certificate will be highly appreciated. Best Rgds, WK Question #1: Please provide clear copy of internal photos. The requirement for the photos are to show the component values. REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLIANCE TESTING DEFINED BY THE FCC The US Federal Communications Commission has released the report and order “Guidelines for Evaluating the Environmental Effects of RF Radiation", ET Docket No. 93-62 in August 1996 [1]. The order requires routine SAR evaluation prior to equipment authorization of portable transmitter devices, including portable telephones. For consumer products, the applicable limit is 1.6 mW/g for an uncontrolled environment and 8.0 mW/g for an occupational/controlled environment as recommended by the ANSI/IEEE standard C95.1-1992 [6]. According to the Supplement C of OET Bulletin 65 “Evaluating Compliance with FCC Guide-lines for Human Exposure to Radio frequency Electromagnetic Fields", released on Jun 29, 2001 by the FCC, the device should be evaluated at maximum output power (radiated from the antenna) under “worst-case” conditions for normal or intended use, incorporating normal antenna operating positions, device peak performance frequencies and positions for maximum RF energy coupling. 3. DOSIMETRIC ASSESSMENT SYSTEM These measurements were performed with the automated near-field scanning system DASY4 from Schmid & Partner Engineering AG (SPEAG). The system is based on a high precision robot (working range greater than 0.9 m) which positions the probes with a positional repeatability of better than ± 0.02 mm. Special E- and …
