Chris Harvey From: [email protected] on behalf of [email protected] Sent: Thursday, August 26, 2004 9:42 PM To: Compliance Certification Services Cc: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: ??: High Tech Computer Corp., FCC ID: NM8HC3U, Assessment NO.: AN04T4144, Notice#1 Page 1 of 2 8/27/2004 Hi Mike, Please refer to the following for our replies. Thank you for your advice. Best regards, Ting Dear Harris, I have reveiwed the above referenced application and find that the following items need to be addressed before teh review can be completed: There are 2 documented models of this EUT, listed as Type 1 and Type 2 in the test report. The maximum measured Peak power for the WLAN transmitter, according to the test report, is 12.85dBm for the Type 2 device. The maximum antenna gain according to the antenna documentation is 1.33dBi. This would result in an EIRP of 14.18dBm or 26mW. According to the TCB Exclusion list, this device requires SAR compliance measurements for TCB approval. Additionally, since there is a collocated (simultaneous transmit) Bluetooth transmitter, SAR measurements would be required with the Bluetooth transmitter turned on. Please note that the RF Exposure section of the test report (page 36) documented the RF power level for the Type 2 device and concluded that SAR was not required. However, the power level stated was the conducted measurement, and the antenna gain of 1.33dBi was not taken into consideration to determine if the EIRP exceeded the Low Threshold. Ans: This device is a PDA that its normal operating configuration is hand-held/ hand- operated portable device which operates at 20 cm from a person¡¦s body; and also because this PDA doesn't has GSM, GPRS and related cellular phone functions that body-worn operating configurations is not required. Based on these reasons, SAR test is not required even the output power is higher than the low threshold. Please indicate which version of ANSI C63.4 has been utilized in the site attenuation and measurements documented in the test report. Ans: Please refer to the attached for revised test report of assessment no.AN04T4143 and AN04T4144. The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information within 30 days of the original e-mail date may result in application dismissal and forfeiture of the filing fee.
