Please read this manual carefully in order to be in a position to make full use of your telephoneโ€™s capabilities. Using your dual mode Satellite/GSM Telit Sat 600 Telephone, calls may be made and re- ceived using both the GSM 900 MHz cellular networks (on condition that an agreement exists between your network operator and the network on which you are about to oper- ate) and using the Globalstar ยฎ satellite network. Despite your Sat 600โ€™s advanced technology, it is extremely simple to use. It offers the functions typical of a GSM telephone but in addition, using a very simple menu, it allows you to make use of the enormous potential offered by Globalstar* networkโ€™s satellite cov- erage. On reading the first few pages of this manual, you will already be able to make and re- ceive calls, memorise and recall telephone numbers in your telephone directory, and send and receive short messages containing text (SMS). * Find out about the coverage offered by the Globalstar network by speaking to your operator or service provider. The Sat 600 telephone may be used in all European Union Countries. You may not be able to use it in other countries or regions due to local tele- communication regulations. FCC Laboratory Equipment Authorization Branch Examiners 7435 Oakland Mills Rd Columbia, MD 21036 Gentlemen: Submitted herewith is an application for a Part 25 mobile handset transmitting on a frequency in the band 1610 to 1626.5 MHz. The receiver system operates on a frequency of 2483.5 to 2500 MHz receiving signals for a series of LEO satellites. The SAR test submitted with the unit is based on the old supplement C procedure. The data taken at that time shows the SAR levels to be extremely low, primarily due to the antenna configuration relative to the user. These units incorporate a relative large antenna that is oriented in a manner during normal operation that is away from head. The system concepts supported are the GSM 900 and the Globalstar standards. The device is investigated in Globalstar mode only. For the Globalstar mode the device has a helix antenna which has to be turned into the correct position. The objective of the measurements done by IMST was the dosimetric assessment of one device in the Globalstar mode. The examinations have been carried out with the dosimetric assessment system โ€žDASYโ€œ. The measurements were made according to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Guidelines [FCC 1997] for evaluating compliance of mobile phones with the American Standard ANSI C95.1 [ANSI 1992]. In [ANSI 1992] limits are defined to prevent harmful effects in human beings exposed to electromagnetic fields. The system concepts supported are the GSM 900 and the Globalstar standards. The device is investigated in Globalstar mode only.
