Only use attachments/ accessories specified by the manufacturer. 12. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/ apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over. 13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time. 14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped. 15. When the mains plug or appliance coupler used as the disconnect device, it shall remain readily operable. 16. Please keep the unit in a good ventilation environment. 4 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS CONT’D 5 To avoid potential equipment damage and/or serious injury, READ AND FOLLOW all safety precautions when installing the TOPCAT. WARNINGS are coated throughout the procedural steps in this guide, and are repeated below for emphasis. UÊUSE A CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN FOR POWER CONNECTIONS. The TOPCAT system uses standard 100 – 240VAC power. Obtain the services of a certified electrician when supplying and connecting power to the Ceiling Enclosure. BE SURE electrical installation complies with local building codes. Improperly installing and/or connecting power to the system may result in EQUIPMENT DAMAGE, serious INJURY and/or DEATH. UÊDO NOT INSTALL ALONE. The Ceiling Enclosure weighs approximately 20 lbs, and requires at least two people to install. DO NOT install alone. UÊUSE SUITABLE LADDERS. use proper ladders or support platforms when installing the TOPCAT Enclosure. DO NOT stand on chairs, tables, or other unsuitable surfaces. UÊSUPPORT THE CEILING ENCLOSURE PROPERLY. DO NOT allow the full weight of the Ceiling Enclosure to rest on the tile grid of the ceiling. The Ceiling Enclosure is designed to be suspended at TWO POINTS by suspension wires (secured to rafters or other suitable mounting points) and to rest LIGHTLY on the tile grid. 6 1. Overview 2. INTERTEK TESTING SERVICES FCC ID:ORV-TOPCATTC RF exposure info- 1 of 1 For Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) evaluation of the base unit, the maximum power density at 20 cm from this mobile transmitter shall be less than the General Population / Uncontrolled MPE limit in OET Bulletin 65. For the base unit of tested model of TopCAT (TC), the maximum field strength measured (FS) was 102.3 dBμV/m. The distance (D) between the antenna and the equipment under test (EUT) was 3 meters. And the maximum source-based time- averaging duty factor in 4 devices operation is 37.5%. From these data, the exposed power density at a distance (R) of 20cm from the center of radiation of the antenna can be calculated according to OET Bulletin 65 as follow: The radiated power (EIRP) = (FS*D) 2 / 30 = 5.09 mW The radiated (EIRP) source-based time-averaging output power = (5.09 * 0.375) mW = 1.91 mW The power density at 20 cm from the antenna = EIRP / 4πR 2 = 0.0004 mW cm -2 In the frequency range of 1,500 - 100,000MHz, the MPE limit is 1.0 mWcm -2 for general population and uncontrolled exposure. As the measured power density at 20cm from the transmitter is lower than the MPE limit, the compliance to the MPE limit can be ensured by indicating the minimum 20cm separation between the transmitter's radiating structures and body of the user or nearby persons. The following RF exposure statement is proposed to be included in the user manual: “ FCC RF Radiation Exposure Statement Caution: To maintain compliance with the FCC’s RF exposure guidelines, place the base unit at least 20cm from nearby persons.”
