Gemalto M2M GmbH Modular Approval Reguest Letter August 18,2014 Dear Application Examiner, Gemalto M2M GmbH GSMIWCDMA Modular, modular name: EHS8, FCC ID: QIPEHS8 would like to have your authorization as a modular approval. The requirements of Public Notice DAOO-1407 have been met and shown on the following statements. Requirement ofPublic Notice DAOO-1407 / part 15.212 Answerfrom applicant I. The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding. Yes, The EUT does provide a RF shielding. Refer to EUT Picture. 2 . The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs (if such inputs are provided) to ensure that the module will comply with Part 15 requirements und er conditions of excessive data rates or over-modulation. Yes, the EUT has digital input buffer 3. The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation. Yes 4. The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirem-ents of Section 15.203 and 15 .204( c). The antenna must either be perrnanentiy attached or employ a "unique" antenna coupler (at all connections between the module and the antenna, including the cable) .. Yes, the EUT has been tested with one antenna. It has a unique antenna plug. 5 . The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration, i.e., the module must not be inside another device during testing. This is intended to demonstrate that the module is capable of complying with Part 15 emission limits regardless of the device into which it is eventually installed. Yes o. The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number, and, ifthe FCC 10 is not visible when the module is installed inside another device, then the outside of the device into wh ich the module is installed must also displayalabel referring to the enclosed modu'le. This exterior label can use wording such as the following: "Contains Transmitter Module FCC 10: XYZMODEL I" or "Col1tains FCC 10: XYZMODEL \. " Any similar wording that expresses the same meaning may be used. The Grantee may either provide such a label, an example ofwhich must be included in the application for equipment authorization, or, must provide adequate instructions along with the module which explain this requirement. In the latter case, a copy ofthese instructions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. Yes 7. The modular transmitter must comply with any specific mle or operating requirements applicabLe to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. A copy ofthese instmctions must be included in the application for equipment authorization. For example, there are very strict operational and timing requirements that must be met before a transmitter is authorized tor operation under Section 15.231. For instance, data transmission is prohibited, except for operation under Section 15.231( e), in which case there are separate field strength level and timing requirements. Compliance with these requirements must be assured. Yes 8. The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements. For example, Fee Rules in Sections 2.1091,2. 1093 and specific SectionsofPart 15,including 15.319(i), 15.407(t), 15.253(t)and 15.255(g), require that Unlicensed pes, UNII and millimeter wave devices perform routine environmental evaluation tor RF Exposure to demonstrate compIiance. In addition, spread spectrum transmitters operating under Section 15.247 are required to address RF Exposure compliance in accordance with Section 15.24 7(b)( 4). Modular transmitters approved under other Sections of Part 15, Yes when necessary, mayaiso need to address certain RF Exposure concerns, typically by providing specific installation and operating instructions for users, instal\ers and other interested parties to ensure compliance. Best regards, Manager Approval

The antenna(s) used for this transmitter must be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm from all persons and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. End-Users must be provided with transmitter operation conditions for satisfying RF exposure compliance. OEM integrators must insure that the end user has no manual instructions to remove or install the EHS8 module. For mobile and fixed operating configurations the antenna gain, including cable loss, must not exceed 2.15 dBi at 1900 MHz and 2.15 dBi at 850 MHz as defined in 2.1091 for satisfying RF exposure compliance. Under no condition may an antenna gain be used that would exceed the 7W erp Part 22 and the 2W eirp Part 24 power limits. The Grantee is responsible for providing the documentation required for modular use. The responsibility for the use of this module, in all configurations utilized or contemplated, remains with the Grantee.
