Operational Description

iCN 700 Product type and general commercial description Navman's iCN700 Series is a GPS (Global Positioning System) in vehicle road navigation device with 2D and/or 3D (dimensional) map display and turn by turn visual and voice instructions. The iCN700 Series is supplied with windscreen mount hardware and a 12Vdc cigarette lighter plug supply. The internals are quite similar to a PDA product with more peripheral such as a camera and GPS receiver. This design is based around the PXA270 processor from Intel. The basis of this is that geographical road maps are store on the CF/HDD mass storage and then displayed on the colour TFT LCD. The GPS receiver which has an antenna in the flap allows the unit to display the correct position of the unit and subsequently the user on the map. This is also combined with street and location names thus allowing the user to program in a location that they would like to navigate to. The unit then calculates a route (dependent on user settings - highway usage, toll road usage, keep out areas etc) then displays the direction to travel and gives visual and audio turning directions as the user progresses along the route. There are of course many other sub functionalities such as the ability to receive traffic information via a serial connection to a separate module, take pictures, display points of interest (PIs) such as parking, petrol stations, hospital, restaurants, tourist attractions etc and of course display the lat log location and satellite information. Most of these features and peripherals can be reached by either hot keys on the unit or by navigating through the menu via the touch screen. The unit will also be available with an RF remote control for controlling volume and brightness and basic navigation operations. This can be mounted nearby on the steering wheel for user convenience. Other accessories include Car and Mains adapters, USB cable and External GPS Antenna. RF Remote Product type and general commercial description The remote will be sold as an accessory with the iCN720 and iCN750 products. It may also be used with future products. It is a simple RF remote transmitting at 2.4GHz using a simple protocol. Its button functions are: • Cancel route • Route to Home • Volume Control • Brightness Control • Mute • Change view mode The remote is powered by two CR2025 or CR2032 3volt lithium batteries and will come with a small cradle that can be strapped to the steering wheel of a car for convenience of the driver.

(for example iCN720, iCN750) depending on a couple of features that will be listed in a table at the end of this document. 11 Appendix 1 [continued] Section A7 Details of filters, screening to improve EMC performance The following circuit design principles and components were used to minimize EMI on the iCN700: - • Slowest clock rate and risetime for acceptable performance. • All components used are surface mount components and IC sockets were avoided. • Multiple RF bypass capacitors were used on all power supply pins. • Solid power and ground planes were used on the PCB. • High speed tracks were buried inside the board. • The address, data and high-speed control lines were implemented as transmission lines and terminated with the characteristics impedance. • RF beads, low pass filters and overvoltage transient protection components protected external I/O lines. The length of cables and connectors was minimized. EMI shielding was achieved in the iCN700 by the following measures: - • Vias were used to stitch the top and bottom layer ground planes together on PCB. • Shield cans were used to cover potential EMC producing components. EMI reduction techniques used in the iCN700 PCB design include: - • Multi layer PCB used. • Multiple power supply bypass capacitors. Test Report

iCN 720 / 750 Test Procedure The above mentioned devices were testing in accordance with FCC part 15 section 15.249. To assist with this testing reference was made to ANSI C63.4, 2003. The devices are short range transmitters operating in the range 2400 – 2483.5 MHz. Normal operations mean that the transmitter only transmits an acknowledgement signal to remote control transmitters once the remote transmitter has interrogated the iCN device. In order to test the FSK signal from the device the client enabled the transmitters to transmit almost continuously using a test programme which also enabled the changing of the operating frequency to one of the 6 programmed channels. Testing was carried out at the open area test site using a measuring receiver, spectrum analyser and various antennas where applicable. Where possible all emission measurements were made at a distance of 3 metres however this distance was reduced to 1 metre in order to determine whether any of the transmitter spurious emissions could be detected. Testing was also carried out in standby mode, transmitter turned off, with the iCN devices being powered at either 12 Vdc or 110 Vac with various ancillary items attached as this device can operate in a number of different modes.
