Helen Zhao Subject: FW: UTStarcom Telecom Co., Ltd., FCC ID: RBN3001P, Assessment NO.: AN04T4446, Notice#1 1/14/2005 From: CCS(KS) - Eric Wong [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, January 14, 2005 8:11 AM To: Helen Zhao Cc: 'CCS(KS) - Eric Wong' Subject: RE: UTStarcom Telecom Co., Ltd., FCC ID: RBN3001P, Assessment NO.: AN04T4446, Notice#1 Dear Helen, Please find my replies below in BROWN. Thank you!! BR, Eric Wong Subject: UTStarcom Telecom Co., Ltd., FCC ID: RBN3001P, Assessment NO.: AN04T4446, Notice#1 Question #1: The transmitting power indicated on the user manual is 40mW (802.11b), 25mW (802.11g). The user manual does not indicate the power in 802.11g turbo mode, the highest power reported in the test report, please add this power on the user manual. Please confirm here you list average power or peak power. If it is peak power, please indicate clearly on the manual, also please make sure the values match the measurement on the test report: 40mW (802.11b), 26mW (802.11g), 72mW(802.11g Turbo). If it is average power, you may need to report average power in the test report. (Eric: All the power reported are measured by the PEAK detector mode, please find the correction on the updated manual.) Question #2: Page 69 and page 151 of the user manual indicated that there are 1-13 selectable channels, it also provides instruction to the user on how to select the desired channel. This is not acceptable as this device will be certified to use only 1-11 channels in USA. Please remove such instruction from the user manual and provide mechanism as how to prevent the users in USA from selecting channel 12 and 13. (Eric: Our client has fixed the issue. The manual has been updated accordingly.) Question #3: The user manual does not contain regulatory statement as specified in FCC15.105 and FCC15.21. Please add the statements into the manual. (Eric: The manual has been updated accordingly.) Question #4: The test report indicated the highest power is 18.56dBm in 802.11g turbo mode. First please revise section 2 to list this highest power. Secondly, please redo MPE calculation to use the highest power instead. (Eric: The report is updated, please find the correction by the attached file.) Question #5: The device can be connected to PC, please advise the digital portion has been certified or DoCed. If it is under DoC scheme, please add FCC DoC on the FCC ID label format. (Eric: The βLabelSmplβ has been revised. FYI.) Question #6: Most of the plots in the test report, except Page 16, are not clear enough. In future please make sure the plots are all clear and readable. (Eric: Okay) Best Regards, Helen The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application.
