Hewlett-Packard Company 153 Taylor Street Littleton, MA 01460-1407 www.hp.com Federal Communications Commission Equipment Authorization Branch 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21046 Company name: Hewlett Packard Co. FCC ID: RTP-MRLBB1003 FCC Part 15 Certification Gentlemen, In accordance with DA 00-1407 – 26 th Jun 2000 “Part 15 Unlicensed Limited Modular Transmitter Approval”, Hewlett Packard Co. believes it has met all of the requirements set out in the document for the granting of a limited modular approval. 1. The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding. 2. The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation/data inputs. 3. The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation. 4. The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of Section 15.203 and 15.204(c). The antenna must either be permanently attached or employ a “unique” antenna coupler (at all connections between the module and the antenna, including the cable). 5. The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration, 6. The modular transmitter must be labeled with its own FCC ID number. 7. The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rule or operating requirements applicable to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. 8. The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements. Hewlett-Packard is requesting a LMA because we will not allow the general public to use this FCC grant. We will use this FCC ID only in our own products where we can control the host requirements. Sincerely, John Czyzewicz Date: June 22, 2011 Senior Regulatory Engineer

ADDRESS: 20 Park Avenue II, Hsinchu Science Park,Hsinchu 308, Taiwan, R.O.C. ISSUED BY: Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (H.K.) Ltd., Taoyuan Branch Hsin Chu Laboratory LAB ADDRESS: No. 81-1, Lu Liao Keng, 9th Ling,Wu Lung Tsuen, Chiung Lin Hsiang, Hsin Chu Hsien 307, Taiwan Report No.: SA990622C09 Report Format Version 3.0.1 2 RF Exposure Measurement 1. Introduction In this document, we try to prove the safety of radiation harmfulness to the human body for our product. The limit for Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) specified in FCC 1.1310 is followed. The Gain of the antenna used in this product is measured in a Fully Anechoic Chamber (FAC) calibrated for antenna measurement in our lab, and also the maximum total power input to the antenna is measured. Through the Friis transmission formula and the maximum gain of the antenna, we can calculate the distance, away from the product, where the limit of MPE is reached. Although the Friis transmission formula is a far field assumption, the calculated result of that is an over-prediction for near field power density. We will take that as the worst case to specify the safety range. 2. RF Exposure Limit According to FCC 1.1310: The criteria listed in the following table shall be used to evaluate the environmental impact of human exposure to radio-frequency (RF) radiation as specified in 1.1307(b) LIMITS FOR MAXIMUM PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE (MPE) Frequency Range (MHz) Electric Field Strength (V/m) Magnetic Field Strength (A/m) Power Density (mW/cm 2 ) Average Time (minutes) (A)Limits For Occupational / Control Exposures 300-1500 ... ... F/300 6 1500-100,000 ... ... 5 6 (B)Limits For General Population / Uncontrolled Exposure 300-1500 ... ... F/1500 30 1500-100,000 ... ... 1.0 30 F = Frequency in MHz Report No.: SA990622C09 Report Format Version 3.0.1 3 3. Friis Formula Friis transmission formula : Pd = (Pout*G) / (4*pi*r 2 ) where Pd = power density in mW/cm 2 Pout = output power to antenna in mW G = gain of antenna in linear scale Pi = 3.1416 R = distance between observation point and center of the radiator in cm Pd is the limit of MPE, 1 mW/cm 2 . If we know the maximum Gain of the antenna and the total power input to the antenna, through the calculation, we will know the MPE value at distance 40cm. Ref. : David K. Cheng, Field and Wave Electromagnetics, Second Edition, Page 640, Eq. (11-133). 4. EUT Operating condition The software provided by Manufacturer enabled the EUT to transmit and receive data at lowest, middle and highest channel individually. 5. Classification The antenna of this product, under normal use condition, is at least 40cm away from the body of the user. So, this device is classified as Mobile Device. The EUT was placed on the top of a rotating table 0.8 meters above the ground at a 3 meters semi-anechoic chamber. The table was rotated 360 degrees to determine the position of the highest radiation. b. The EUT was set 3 meters away from the interference-receiving antenna, which was mounted on the top of a variable-height antenna tower. c. The antenna is a broadband antenna, and its height is varied from one meter to four meters above the ground to determine the maximum value of the field strength. Both horizontal and vertical polarizations of the antenna are set to make the measurement. d. For each suspected emission, the EUT was arranged to its worst case and then the antenna was tuned to heights from 1 meter to 4 meters and the rotatable table was turned from 0 degrees to 360 degrees to find the maximum reading. e. The test-receiver system was set to Peak Detect Function and Specified Bandwidth with Maximum Hold Mode. f. If the emission level of the EUT in peak mode was lower than the limit specified, then testing could be stopped and the peak values of the EUT would be reported. Otherwise the emissions would be re-tested one by one using peak, quasi-peak or average method as specified and then reported in a data sheet. NOTE: 1. The resolution bandwidth and video bandwidth of test receiver/spectrum analyzer is 120kHz for Quasi-peak detection at frequency below 1GHz. 2. The resolution bandwidth of test receiver/spectrum analyzer is 1MHz and video bandwidth is 3MHz for Peak detection at frequency above 1GHz. 3. The resolution bandwidth of test receiver/spectrum analyzer is 1MHz and the video bandwidth is 10Hz for Average detection (AV) at frequency above 1GHz. 4. All modes of operation were investigated and the worst-case emissions are reported. 5.1.4 DEVIATION FROM TEST STANDARD No deviation.
