Building Automation Products, Inc. Wireless Temperature and Relative Humidity Sensor Installation and Operation Instructions Description The Building Automation Products, Inc. Wireless Temperature and Relative Humidity Sensor, Model BA/BS2- WTHT, is a battery operated, wall mounted sensor with a 418 MHz radio transmitter. The BA/BS2-WTHT is designed to require very little energy; the two internal 3.6 Volt Lithium batteries will operate the sensor for 5 to 8 years in normal operation The BA/BS2-WTHT enclosure is designed to mount directly onto a drywall surface or onto a standard 2”x4” J- box. The enclosure is supplied with a ‘foam-back’ to minimize the effects of wall temperature on the device. The enclosure is also provided with security screws to lock the cover and base together to prevent tampering. The BA/BS2-WTHT has one internal push-button which allows for easy training and identification of the transmitter. The push-button is used when linking the transmitter to any Analog Output Module. See BAPI’s INS/OPS for details. The BA/BS2-WTHT also has an internally mounted LED. The LED will flash briefly when the sensor transmits a data packet using the 418 MHz radio. This happens roughly about once every 10 seconds or shortly after the use of the push-button. WARNING: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. FCC ID: T4F16963N16964 MADE IN USA THIS DEVICE COMPLIES WITH PART 15 OF THE FCC RULES, OPERATION IS SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING TWO CONDITIONS: (1) THIS DEVICE MAY NOT CAUSE HARMFUL INTERFERENCE AND (2) THIS DEVICE MUST ACCEPT ANY INTERFERENCE RECEIVED, INCLUDING INTERFERENCE THAT MAY CAUSE UNDESERED OPERATION

FCC ID: T4F16963N16964 Operational description of the 418 mHz. battery operated temperature/humidity sensor. Description of the circuit functions, ground system and antenna of the BAPI, BA/BS2-WTHT Wireless transmitter The BAPI, BA/BS2-WTHT Wireless transmitter is a lithium battery operated, microprocessor based, 418 MHz. transmitter that transmits temperature and relative humidity and a unique 30-bit serial number. The microprocessor is brought up from a power down state every 1/60 second by an internal timer in the microprocessor. The microprocessor gathers data from either a digital sensor or the on board thermistor temperature sensor. The microprocessor converts this information to digital data and then combines the counts and with the serial number data from an onboard stored unique serial number and then transmits the entire data packet serially with a Linx Technologies TXM-418-LC-R 418 MHz. Transmitter module. The microprocessor then powers down into a quiescent state to wait for the next interrupt from the on board timer. The PC board bottom layer is a ground plane and the antenna is a 1/4-wave loop that has been etched in PC board material and placed into the ABS enclosures cover.

(BAPI) . dBi will keep a copy for its historical records and to satisfy A2LA-Audit requirements. We strongly recommend archiving the unit that we tested to facilitate answering future inquiries regarding this product. Retention of records: The FCC requires the records for a Class A or Class B product to be retained by the responsible party for at least two years after the manufacture of said product has been permanently discontinued. These records should include the original certification or verification product report, quality audit data, and the test procedures used. The European Union requires the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) and all supporting data for a product bearing the CE Mark to be retained, and available for inspection by enforcement authorities, for 10 years after placing the product on the market. Australia and New Zealand require the Declaration of Conformity, test reports, a description of the product, documentation that clearly identifies the product, and paperwork showing the product’s brand name, model number, etc. to be kept for at least five years after the product ceases to be supplied to Australia or New Zealand. Measurement uncertainties: The Lexmark Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory (EMC Lab) has a documented calculation of the measurement uncertainties associated with tests performed at the Lexmark site. Ongoing compliance: This report applies only to the sample tested. The manufacturer has full responsibility for ensuring that the production models of the Temperature/Humidity Sensor comply with the FCC and CE Mark requirements, and continue to comply throughout their manufacturing life. The manufacturer should check all changes to the product that could change its interference profiles. A2LA approval: dBi Corporation has been accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) for Radiated Emissions and Conducted Emissions, Electromagnetic Interference, and Electrostatic Discharge testing. Copies of our Accreditation Certificate and Scope of Accreditation follow. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recognized the Lexmark site as meeting the requirements of section 2.948 of the FCC Rules in a letter dated December 10, 2001. This information is on file with the FCC under Registration No. 949691. For measurements under 1,000MHz we used a 20dB attenuator at the antenna to prevent signal compression. At the highest orientation/ azimuth/height based on quasipeak measurements, we measured peak, quasipeak, and average values with 0dB, 10dB, 20dB, and 30dB attenuators. The differences between the 20dB and the 30dB-attenuation values were approximately 10dB, showing that 20dB attenuation was enough. Average and peak measurements below 1,000MHz were made with the receiver in manual mode with a 100ms sample time, watching the display to catch the highest value. Because we could only catch the top two digits, we added 0.99dB to the measured value to be conservative. Test Results: Tables 1 and 2, and the Transmitted Bandwidth Data show that this unit meets the radiated interference requirements of FCC Part 15 for an intentional radiator licensed to operate at 418MHz under Section 15.231(e). . Under Section 15.231(e), the average limit for the fundamental is calcula…

Wireless Temperature and combination Temperature and Relative Humidity transmitter model BA/BS2- WTHTtransmits a 15-16 millisecond packet once each 600-10 seconds. This is identical to the data packet timing of a previously certified “M5ZWOW”. Thepacket consists of transmitter-on/transmitter-off timing that represents the serial number and vibration data. The duty cycle is approximately 50%. The packet time can vary with serial number between 14-16milliseconds. The packet data is controlled by a microprocessor whosetiming is based on a ceramic resonator that is very stable. The packetbelow (figure #2) illustrates a typical data packet, the worst case,16 milliseconds, cannot be shown because serial number would have to be forced to make this so. Figure #1 illustrates the overall timing; a packetis sent each 10 seconds in this worst case. Thebatteryused during the tests was new and was a standard 3.6 Volt Lithium cell. The battery is a 3.6 Volt Lithium chemistry, which has a flatdischarge curve from new to about 90% used. In this application the battery requires about 3 years to discharge to the point that it cannot be used.Thebattery was used for no other purpose and had operated in the testunit for only a short time when the test was performed.
