DSP, radio & memory), antenna coil, motherboard (incl. small passive components) and intended to be installed as a module into Oticon wireless hearing aid de vices only. The module also has all voltage regulators included inside the engi ne block. The module requires a battery, one or two microphones on a flex PCB and a speaker to be attached and must be mounted in an external plastic shell. It is possible for aut horized personnel only to program the module through a flex I/O. Usage of hearing instruments • Hearing instruments should be used only as directed and adjusted by your Hearing Care Professional. Misuse can result in sudden and permanent hearing loss. • Never allow others to wear your hearing instrument as incorrect/wrongful usage could cause permanent damage to their hearing. Choking Hazards • Hearing instruments, their parts, and batteries are not toys and should be kept out of reach of children and anyone who might swallow these items or otherwise cause injury to themselves. • Never change the battery or adjust the controls of the hearing instruments in front of infants, small children or people with learning difficulties. • Discard batteries carefully in a place where infants, small children or people with learning difficulties cannot reach them • Batteries have occasionally been mistaken for pills. Therefore check your medicine carefully before swallowing any pills. • Never put your hearing instrument or batteries in your mouth for any reason, as they are slippery and could be swallowed by accident. Battery use • Always use batteries recommended by your Hearing Care Professional. Batteries of low quality may leak and cause bodily harm. • Never attempt to recharge your batteries. They may explode and cause serious injury. • Never dispose of batteries by burning them. There is a risk that they will explode and cause serious injury. Dysfunction in hearing instruments • Hearing instruments may stop functioning, for instance if the batteries have expired or if the tubing is blocked by moisture or earwax. You should be aware of this possibility, in particular when you are in traffic or otherwise dependent on warning sounds. Active Implants • Oticon shows caution and advises following recommended guidelines of manufactur- ers of implantable defibrillators and pacemakers regarding use of mobile phones. • If you wear an active implant, then keep the hearing instruments more than 15 cm away from the implant e.g. do not carry them in a breast pocket. If you have an active brain implant, please contact the manufacturer of your implantable device for informa- tion about the risk of disturbance. • The MultiTool has a built-in magnet. If you have an implantable device, such as pacemakers or defibrillators, the MultiTool should not be carried in a breast pocket or near the chest. Explosives • The power source in your hearing instrument has insufficient energy to cause fire in normal conditions of use. The hearing instrument has not been tested for compliance with international standards concerning explosive atmospheres. It is recommended not to use your hearing instruments in areas where there is a danger of explosions. X-ray, CT, MR, PET scanning and electrotherapy • Remove your hearing instrument for example during X-ray, CT / MR / PET scanning, electrotherapy or surgery as your hearing instruments may be damaged when exposed to strong fields. Possible side effects • Hearing instruments or ear molds may cause an accelerated accumulation of ear wax. • The otherwise non-allergenic materials used in hearing instruments may in rare cases cause a skin irritation or any other unusual condition. Please, seek consultation with a physician if these conditions occur. The requirements of the Modular Transmitter paragraph §15.212 are met as follows: 1. The radio module has only got RF shielding of a major part of the RF circuit, not completely. The product is also constrained to be used solely by Oticon A/S and its daughter companies or sold to Original Equipment Manufactures (OEM) of Hearing Instruments only. Therefore we apply for a Limited Modular Approval. The module is a fully integrated and inseparable part of an amplifier module for Rite style hearing aids. Therefore the radio module alone cannot be used by end users. The behaviour of the wireless module is locked by the design and can only be changed by Oticon A/S, so the compliance of the end product is always ensured. (See further descriptions in the radio model installation guide and/or user manual) 2. The amplifier module includes buffer stages for its external data/programming inputs. 3. The wireless part of the engine block inside the amplifier module shares the power supply with the digital signal processing (DSP) part of the engine block. Therefore we apply for a Limited Modular Approval with the same argumentation as in point 1. 4. The radio part of the amplifier module has only an integral and permanently attached antenna. 5. The amplifier module was tested in a stand‐alone configuration, but mounted inside a Hearing Aid plastic shell, as can be seen in anneces A‐C of the CETECOM Test Report No. 1‐3041‐01‐02/11. The module fulfils Part 15 emission limits without any additional RF shielding. 6. The size of the whole amplifier module (engine block and motherboard) is less than 1/4 inch so the labelling information is located in the user manual and radio model installation guide. 7. The amplifier module is compliant with all applicable FCC rules. Maintenance of compliance is always ensured as only Oticon A/S is authorized to alter the antenna or other wireless related behaviours. 8. The amplifier module is compliant with all applicable RF exposure requirements.
