An active tag is placed on an item or person that requires monitoring. The battery powered active tags can transmit information throughout a secure wireless router network. Information, or data, that is intelligently and automatically collected from each tag will identify the asset type, the location, movement timestamp and other desired device attributes. This data allows items to be easily located anywhere within the wireless network, as well as their proximity relationship to each other. ORIENTATION When possible, the tags should be placed on assets in the highest least obstructive manner. This will optimize the readers’ ability to receive the most accurate data from the tag. Device is an ACTIVE RFID TAG operating at 434MHz that is placed on assets, staff, and non-staff personnel including patients. For a tag placed on an asset, some of it's functions include theft detection of a tagged asset and real time location information of necessary tagged assets during emergency situations. For tags placed on staff and non-staff personnel, some functions include real time location information of people during emergency situations, including emergency personnel as well as non-staff and patients. The ACTIVE RFID TAG is triggered by a motion sensor and immediatly transmits a preamble, sync signal, and ID data. The preamble is for the recieving unit to detect, followed by a sync signal, that causes the recieving unit to latch the measured signal strength, and ID Data to identify the transmitting tag. The total transmission time is following each trigger of the motion sensor is 900uSec. Follwing a transmission, the tag prohibits the detection of subsequent motion sensor triggers for 1.2sec. So, the tag will not transmit more than 900uSec every 1.2sec while in motion. When the tag is not in motion, indicated by no trigger detection from motion sensor, will, after 10sec, transmit for 900uSec. The tag will transmit every 10sec after the last non-triggered transmission for 900uSec when not in motion. The total non-motion transmission time over one hour is less than 350mSec. The non-motion transmissions allow the system to determine that the tags are operational and set the appropriate alerts to necessary personnel in the event the tags are not operational. FCC response on 05/01/2012 It is possible that a device could operate under both 15.231(a-d) and 15.231(e) if it has separate modes of operation in which one mode is totally under 15.231(a other is totally under 15.231(e). The device you describe would not comply with 15.231(a) only. To determine compliance, each applicable rule for the rule part applied for needs to be addressed to be considered. The product is the Tempora 433. The operating frequency is 433.9MHz. It is powered by +3VDC coin cell batteries. Line Conducted Emissions was not performed. We found that the product met the requirements without modification. Don Proulx from AirPointe was present during the testing. The test sample was received in good condition. Test Methodology Testing was performed according to ANSI C63.4-2009 and ANSI C63.10-2009. Radiated emissions were maximized by rotating the device around its three orthogonal axes, as well as varying the test antenna’s height and polarity. The EUT’s antenna cannot be maximized separately. Fresh batteries were used for testing. Frequency range investigated: 30MHz – 4.5GHz Measurement distance: 30-4500MHz 3m This device has no receiver portion. The EUT is comprised of two portions of software, one which complies with 47 CFR 15.231(a), and the other which is 47 CFR 15.231(e). Under steady conditions, the EUT transmits every 10.26 seconds for duration of 11.25ms. Once motion is detected the EUT would transmit at a higher power for duration of 11.25ms for every 1.25 seconds. Spurious emissions were tested using the highest power settings available.
