Instruction Manual 47-1004J, 47-1004K & 47-1004L REMOTE CONTROL INSTALLATION 1. Locate and connect the input and output terminals to the correct terminals. Output Terminal #1: 300W (Incandescent Lamp) Output Terminal #2: 1200W (Resistive Load) Output Terminal #3: 1200W (Resistive Load) Remark: The total max. output for Terminal #2 & #3 is 1200W. REMOTE CONTROL The remote control has a range of approximately 50 ft. (15.25m), it does not have to be pointed the fireplace and can pass through most obstacles (including walls). It is supplied with one of 2187 independent frequencies to prevent interference with other units. The frequency designation is indicated on the back of the transmitter. A. Remote Control Initialization This procedure is required every time there is a loss of power to the remote control with the receiver. (i.e. power failure, breaker tripped, main power switch is turned off). 1. Ensure that power is supplied through the receiver. 2. Locate manual controls (Blue,“ - ”), (Grey “ + ”) and (Black “ GND ”) Wires 3. Activate main power switch, red indicator light 1 will flash. 4. Press and hold the ON switch (short Grey & Black wires) for 5 seconds. The second red indicator light will flash. 5. Press ON button located on the remote control transmitter. This will synchronize the remote control transmitter and receiver. B. Remote Control Usage The remote control operates the system levels sequentially. The level is increased every time the ON button on the transmitter is pressed. The receiver can be turned off at any point by pressing the OFF button on the remote control transmitter. Remark: Output Terminal #1: Indicator #1 (Red wire) Output Terminal #2: Indicator #2 (Orange wire) Output Terminal #3: Indicator #3 (Yellow wire) C. Manual Control The fireplace can also be controlled in a similar manner to the remote control with switches located on the receiver. 1. On Switch (short Grey & Black wires) Operates receiver in the same manner as the remote control transmitter. Pressing this button has the same effect as the ON button on the remote control. Pressing once to the activates Level 1, twice activates Level 2, three times activates Level 3. 2. Off Switch (short Blue & Black wires) Pressing this button has the same effect as the OFF button on the remote control. Pressing once to shut the unit off. WARNING Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. 3-stage On/Off Remote with EEPROM – Receiver Technical Description The 3-stage On/Off Remote composes of 2 modules. One is the remote control unit (Transmitter) and the other is the power switch unit (Receiver). The receiver is operated by AC120V. It consists of several parts, including Input Stage Antenna (ANT), R.F. Amplifier (Q1), Demodulator (Q2), Amplifier (U1-A), Comparator (U1-B), Remote Control Decoder (U5), Driver(Q3, Q4, Q5, Q6, Q7, Q8), Output Stage (K1, K2, K3) and Power Supply (R1, R1A, R1B, C1A, ZD1 & U3). When a signal is received through the antenna, the Input Stage, it will pass through the R.F. Amplifier and Demodulator to remove the carrier frequency. Then the signal will go through the Amplifier and the comparator to retrieve the original encoded signal. The Remote Control Decoder (MCU) will decode a correct signal to make or break the relay contacts through the Driver in order to open or close the relay in the Output stage.
