RF Exposure Info

October 27, 1998 Federal Communications Commission Equipment Authorization Division 7435 Oakland Mills Road Columbia, MD 21046 Subject: Maximum Permissible Exposure calculations for FCC ID: EV9WNIP2458R To whom it may concern, Wireless is submitting a low power transmitter for the WaveNet IP System. The unit has a low power frequency hopping spread spectrum radio operating in the 5725 - 5850 MHz range with a radiated output power of 205 W. Assuming a worst case of no duty cycle. For an Isotropic radiator the surface area of a sphere can be used to determine the area over which the transmitter energy is radiated. Surface area of a sphere = 4*Ξ *radius 2 In the case where there is antenna gain, the worst case energy density is increased by the antenna gain. The exposure level can be calculated as follows for the antenna gain: MPE distance = (output power *duty cycle*10(antenna gain/10)/(4*Ξ *Exposure Limit (mW/cm 2 ) 1/2 EV9WNIP2458R MPE distance SP1-2/5 Dual Band Antenna = (304 mW*1*213/4*3.14*1) 1/2 = 71.8 cm = 28.3 in SP2I-2/5 Dual Band Antenna= (304 mW*1*676/4*3.14*1) 1/2 = 127 cm = 50.3 in If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me. Grounding was in accordance with the manufacturer requirements and conditions for intended use. 6.0SUMMARY OF TESTS The WAVENET IP 2458 REMOTE is a Wireless Point to Multipoint data communications System with a low power frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) radio system transmitting in the 5725-5850 MHz band and receiving in the 2400-2483 MHz band. Tests were performed with two different pairs of antennas. Test firmware resident in the EUT and was used to do the test. 6.115.247(a)(1)FREQUENCY HOPPING SYSTEMS WAVENET IP 2458 REMOTE uses 79 channels, each 1 MHz wide. The system hops over one of 26 pseudorandom sequences. On average, each channel is used equally. Please refer to " WaveNet IP System Description attached to this submission for more details. 6.1.115.247(a)(1)(ii)CHANNEL UTILIZATION A spectrum analyzer plots labeled β€œChannel UTILIZATION". The total number of channels is 79. The channels used have nominal center frequencies of 5770 through 5848 MHz. Three spectrum analyzer MAX HOLD plots labeled "β€œBANDWIDTH" show the 20 dB bandwidth of the hopping channel to be < 1 MHz (1 / 1 / .995 MHz) at the low/midband/high frequencies of 5770/5809/5848 GHz. Test Plots are shown in Appendix A. Zero span spectrum analyzer plot labeled β€œDWELL TIME" shows Worst case transmission time in a given slot : 300 msec elapsed time, <100 %. Please refer to β€œWaveNet IP System description attached to this submission for more details. Maximum allowed:400 msec. Test Data in Appendix A. A810007.DOC 5 6.1.215.247(b)MAXIMUM PEAK OUTPUT POWER The three spectrum analyzer plots labeled " POWER OUT" show the maximum power of the hopping channel to be 24.8 dBm or 304 mW. The E…
