SIM Card The SIM card stores the wireless number for your Quicksilver and your subscriber infor- mation enabling access to the AT&T network. Follow the easy steps for Windows Vista, XP and 2000 laptops on the next page. Warning: The Quicksilver device should be used with the LED indicator lights facing up or to either side for best perfor- mance and safety. If trying to use the device with the LED indicators facing down, the user should maintain a distance of at least ½ of an inch (12,7 mm) between the device and the user’s body. Follow the steps below 1. Insert the SIM card and connect the Quicksilver (about 2 minutes) • Open the Quicksilver by swiveling the cap to the right or left. • Peel away the pull tab that extends over the USB connector from the bottom of the device. • Use the pull tab to pull the dummy SIM from the slot. • Insert the SIM into the slot directly above the USB connector. • The notched portion of the SIM should go into the device first and be positioned towards the back end of the device. • Gently push the SIM card completely into the slot until it clicks into place and is fully inserted. • Inserted properly • Not inserted properly • Insert the Quicksilver into the laptop Z08_193_X_GSG_ATT_150X100_land_V2.indd 628-08-2008 13:19:43 7 Follow the steps below 1. iCON 322 FCC ID: NCMOGI0322 CE 0682 Certification Leaflet Federal communications commission notice This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15,22 and 24 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: > Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. > Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. > Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. > Consult the dealer or an experienced radio or television technician for help. Modifications The FCC requires the user to be notified that any changes or modifications made to this device that are not expressly approved by Option could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Exposure Information to Radio Frequency Energy This device complies to the SAR regulation as stated by the FCC. The measurements were made according to the Supplement C to OET Bulletin 65 of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Guidelines [OET 65] for evaluating compliance of mobile and portable devices with FCC limits for human exposure (general population) to radiofrequency emissions. The device was tested in all possible orientations while plugged into laptop computers. The highest SAR value for this modem when tested on top side with 12.7 mm (1/2 inch) distance was 1.45 W/kg. In positions other than top side, a separation distance of 5 mm (1/5 inch) is required. The highest SAR value in this case was 1.17 W/kg. This USB modem is approved for use in normal size laptop computers only (typically with 12" or larger display screens). To comply with FCC RF exposure requirements, this modem should not be used in configurations that cannot maintain at least below stated distances from users and bystanders: • 12.7 mm (1/2 inch) distance from the top side of the modem • 5 mm (1/5 inch) from all other sides The antenna swivel cap should be clicked into position during operation of the device. Users concerned with the risk of Radio Frequency exposure may wish to limit the duration of their calls and to position the modem as far away from the body as is practical.
