FCC ID: NCMOGL1 Applicant: Option International NV Correspondence Reference Number: 22637 Dated: 2002-05-04 731 Confirmation Number: EA870130 CETECOM Certification and Testing in Communications GmbH Im Teelbruch 122 45219 Essen Germany Phone: +49 (0) 2054 9519-0 Fax: +49 (0) 2054 9519-9 EMC Answer to 1) The maximum output power EIRP was 32.8dBM = 1,905 W. Answer to 2) The maximum peak output power of the PCS PCMCIA card is 32.8 dB EIRP (1,905 W), so the spurious emission level is: 45,8dBc, therefore the spurious emission level is -13 dBm absolute, in dBμV at 3m distance is then 84.5dBμV/m So you can see from the tables, that there are no spurious greater than 31.7 dBμV/m at 3m was found. This means that the highest spurious is 74.7 dB below carrier. Normally emissions 20 dB below limits are not reported, but we do as customers satisfaction. Nevertheless will change our reporting system, so that you will have summary tables where spurious are reported in dBc in the future. The peaks above 2 Ghz were the 1. and 2. harmonics, the power of these peaks are << 20 dB below Limit. SAR Answer to 3) The Conversion Factor is integrated in the DASY Software and can be considered a calculated correction factor, independent of the measurement itself – it is included when the system calculates the SAR values. The correlation between the SAR value and the ConvF ( ConvF SAR value 1 ~) can be seen in the enclosed application note “Data Storage and Evaluation.pdf”. Answer to 4) The conversion from GSM 1800 to GSM 1900 has been done according to the guidelines stated in the DASY user Manual. Answer to 5) We herewith confirm, that the GPRS mode supports only 2 timeslots as indicated. Answer to 6) The PCMCIA PCS card will not be delivered with an external antenna. However in case the end user would need an external antenna for having a better reception, Option has specified an external antenna with the characteristics of 50 Ohm nominal impedance and a gain of 0dBi ± 1 dBi, and a cable legth of minimum 20 cm. Please refer also to the uploaded documents “External Antenna Information.pdf” Answer to 7) The worst case operating mode for this device is PCS 1900 with GPRS active – two time slots for uplink. This operating mode however is for data transmission only, hence the use of a headset is not possible. This system check gives a sensitivity to the parameter probe, liquid parameter and software settings. When we performed the validation at 1800 MHz, we can check the probe according on fail or vary over time. We can also check the liquid parameter (the ingredients of the liquid for 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz head tissue are the same) and the software settings are described in the measurement plots. Answer to 10) Control of maximum power: The measurement processes in the DASY3 software contain a drift measurement to check the power drift of the device during the measurement. Device operating configurations: The communication was performed and monitored with the Rohde&Schwarz universal radio communication tester CMU 200. Answer to 2): The measurements were performed with a conversion factor of 5.4 (calibrated for 1800 Mhz head tissue), you can see the measurement results in the SAR report on page 7, table 2 "pre results". But for the used EUT, the correct conversion factor for 1880 MHz body tissue is approximately 5.21. The conversion from 1800 MHz head tissue to 1880 MHz body tissue was calculated according to the DASY user manual -chapter 4.5.3 connection between device, liquid and probe parameters (page 49)-. The final SAR value (see test report page 7, table 3) was calculated according to the following formula: SAR (final result) = SAR (pre results) x 5.4/5.21 You can see the correctness of this formula in the attached application note "data storage and evaluation". This application note described, that SAR is conversely proportional to the conversion factor. Answer to 3): Please check the uploaded document “Revised External Antenna Information.pdf” Answer to 4): Please check the uploaded document “Revised Safety Statement.pdf” Answer to 5): On the next page you will find the results of the Validation: Validation 1 : 1800 MHz Head Validation (all parameters are referred to 1800MHz) Validation 1 : as 1, but with 1900 MHz Head liquid parameters Validation 1 : as 2, but with 1900 MHz Conversion Factor For the Validation 1 (1800 MHz Head) the value to be obtained (as referenced in IEEE 1528- 200X, table 7.1) is 38.1 W/kg for a 1g cube. The measured validation value has been 38.1 W/kg. Through the change of the liquid parameter (sigma increases from 1.36 S/m to 1.45 S/m) from Validation 1 to Validation 2, the measured validation value also increases from 38.1 W/kg to 40.4 W/kg. For the Validation 3, the ConF of 5.4 (1800MHz head) has been decreased to 5.2 (1900 MHz head), and hence the measured value increases from 40.4 W/kg to 41.6 W/kg. Operational Description

Globetrotter: Operational Description The Globetrotter PC Radio Card is a triple band GPRS PCMCIA card meeting all GSM and GPRS applicable specifications. It provides packet switched (PS) and circuit switched (CS) data connectivity to the Internet, intranets, enterprises, and more. In addition, GSM voice capabilities are supported using an attachable headset. This GPRS mobile device provides simultaneous connection to the GPRS and GSM service network but not simultaneous traffic. It operates with multi-slot class 10 capability meaning that per time frame 4 downlink slots (data transfer from base station to mobile terminal) and 2 uplink slots (data transfer from mobile terminal to base station) are available. Utilizing PCMCIA technology the PC-Radio Card presents itself as two serial port devices. Dependent on the operating system and user installation options the primary port will be visible either as a standard dial-up modem, or, by installation of the correct drivers, as an NDIS compatible serial device. The secondary serial port is used for configuration and diagnostics. The card operates at both 3.3V and 5V, with automatic switching. There is a current limiting circuit for PCMCIA power supply – to prevent power consumption exceeding PCMCIA recommendations. The Globetrotter is equipped with one miniature size SIM connector with full support for GSM Phase 2 SIM cards. The SIM is located on the top side of the card and is removable only when the card is not in PCMCIA sleeve in a Laptop or supporting device

6FKPLG 3DUWQHU(QJLQHHULQJ$*=XULFK6ZLW]HUODQG $SSOLFDWLRQ1RWH 'DWD6WRUDJHDQG(YDOXDWLRQ Data Storage The DASY3 software stores the assessed data from the data acquisition electronics are as raw data (in microvolt readings from the probe sensors), together with all the necessary software parameters for the data evaluation (probe calibration data, liquid parameters and device frequency and modulation data) in measurement files with the extension ".DA3". The Software evaluates the desired unit and format for output each time the data is visualized or exported. This allows verification of the complete software setup even after the measurement and allows correction of erroneous parameter settings. For example, if a measurement has been performed with an incorrect crest factor parameter in the device setup, the parameter can be corrected afterwards and the data can be reevaluated. To avoid unintentional parameter changes or data manipulations, the parameters in measured files are locked. In the administrator access mode of the software, the parameters can be unlocked by selecting the "modify"-switch in the "file"-pull down menu. After changing the parameters, the measured scans must be reevaluated by selecting them and using the "evaluate"-option in the "scan"-pull down menu. The measured data can be visualized or exported in different units or formats, depending on the selected probe type ([V/m], [A/m], [°C], [mW/g], [mW/cm²], [dBrel], etc.). Some of these units are not available in certain situations or give meaningless results, e.g., a SAR- output in a lossless media will always be zero. Raw data can also be exported to perform the evaluation with other software packages. Data Evaluation The DASY3 software automatically executes the following procedures to calculate the field units from the microvolt readings at the probe connector. The parameters used in the evaluation are stored in the configuration modules of the software: Probe parameters: - Sensitivity Norm i , a i0 , a i1 , a i2 - Conversion factorConvF i - Diode compression pointDcp i Device parameters:- Frequencyf - Crest factorcf Media parameters:- Conductivityσ - Densityρ These parameters must be set correctly in the software. They can be found in the component documents or they can be imported into the software from the configuration files issued for the DASY3 components. In the direct measuring mode of the multimeter option, the parameters of the actual system setup are used. In the scan visualization and export modes, the parameters stored in the corresponding document files are used. Application Note: Data Storage and Evaluation (6/98)Page 2 of 3 6FKPLG 3DUWQHU(QJLQHHULQJ$*=XULFK6ZLW]HUODQG The first step of the evaluation is a linearization of the filtered input signal to account for the compression characteristics of the detector diode. The compensation depends on the input signal, the diode type and the DC-transmission factor from the diode to the evaluation electronics. If the exciting field is pulsed, the crest factor of the signal must be known to correctly compensate for peak power. The formula for each channel can be given as: i iii dcp…
