Exposure Information to Radio Frequency Energy This PCMCIA card has been tested in different notebooks for compliance with the SAR requirements. Measured SAR values according to the CE regulations: The maximum measured body SAR value (averaged over a mass of 10 g and distance between phantom and antenna of 5 mm) is 0,621 W/kg for GSM900, which is well below the limit of 2 W/kg. The maximum measured body SAR value (averaged over a mass of 10 g and distance between phantom and antenna of 5 mm)is 0,460 W/kg for DCS1900, which is well below the limit of 2 W/kg. Measured SAR values according to the FCC regulations: The maximum measured body SAR value (averaged over a mass of 1 g and distance between phantom and antenna of 5 mm) is 1,270 W/kg for GSM850, which is well below the limit of 1.6 W/kg. The maximum measured body SAR value (averaged over a mass of 1 g and distance between phantom and antenna of 5 mm) is 0,409 W/kg for PCS1900, which is well below the limit of 1.6 W/kg. For safe and efficient use the user should keep the antenna of the card at a minimum distance of 1 cm away from his body. All of the measurements above were performed at a distance of 0.5 cm from the body of the user. CAUTION: Users concerned with the risk of Radio Frequency exposure may wish to limit the duration of their calls and to position the antenna as far away from the body as is practical. Address : Kolonel Begaultlaan 45 B-3012 Leuven Belgium Option N.V. duly represented by its Quality Engineer, Bruno Meeus, hereby confirms that for the Globetrotter Combo EDGE the WLAN radio and the GSM/GPRS radio can never operate simultaneously. In the Globetrotter Combo EDGE card, there is a hardware circuit that prevents that both radios (GPRS and WLAN) will transmit simultaneously. This is done in the following way. During the transmit burst of the GPRS radio, a signal on the card is activated. This signal will directly disable the transmitter of the WLAN radio. So even if the WLAN baseband is trying to send some data at that moment, the RF transmitter is disabled. This makes that both radios will never transmit simultaneously. The GPRS radio is always the master. Quality Engineer, Bruno Meeus Leuven, 29 november 2004
