BLUEBEE - Wireless Internet Sharing Wizard - 1 - 1. Introduction 1.1. What is BLUEBEE? BLUEBEE is a Bluetooth USB adapter which provides a wireless network and Internet connection between PCs without access point and any connection cables. With BLUEBEE, you don’t need to worry any more about setting up a LAN cable or changing complex network configurations to access Internet with your laptop computer in the office or at home. PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS MANUAL BEFORE YOU USE BLUEBEE. 1.1.1. BLUEBEE Wireless Network BLUEBEE can make a wireless network, Point to Point and Multipoint connection (1 Server : 7 Clients) A wireless network consists of two sides, a Server and a Client. The Server is a PC that is directly connected to Internet through ADSL, Cable Modem or LAN. Where as the Client is a PC that can connect to Internet through the wireless network, which is provide by the Server PC, without having any direct connection sources. This manual describes, in detail, installing software, setting network configuration, software user manual, and troubleshooting. The three steps below help you configure a wireless network. A. Install PAN and EasyGate on a Server. B. Install PAN on a Client(s). C. Clients attempt to access the Server. Server: a PC with a direct connection to Internet (such as ADSL, Cable Modem, LAN, or Dial-up Modem) Client: a PC without a direct connection to Internet 1.1.2. Main features and specifications ß Wireless Internet and Data sharing ß Plug & Play USB port with high speed support ß Multi-users : Maximum seven PCs can share at the same time ß Bandwidth : Maximum 1Mbps ß Range : 100m ß Security option: Password authentication for network connection ß Specification : Bluetooth Specification 1.1 and PAN Profile V0.96E BLUEBEE - Wireless Internet Sharing Wizard - 2 - 1.2. Supplied Items ß Two Bluetooth USB Adapters ß Extension cable ß Program CD ß User Manual 1.3. System Requirements ß CPU : Pentium lll or higher is recommended. ß Memory : 64MB or higher is recommended. ß Interface ≤ Server : a LAN card, a USB port, and CD_ROM ≤ Clients : a USB port and CD_ROM ß Operating System: Windows98SE / ME / 2000 / XP BLUEBEE - Wireless Internet Sharing Wizard - 3 - 2. Installing Software In Chapter 2, a step-by-step installing guide will be given for software installation. Install PAN on both a Sever and Clients, but EasyGate on the Server only! [SERVER] 2.1. Installing PAN First, install PAN on the Server. Assuming D:\ is a CD-ROM Drive, do as follows: ß Double click on the Setup.exe icon at D:\ Pan\ Setup.exe. ß You can install the USB adapter before installing PAN, but we recommend installing the USB adapter after PAN installation is complete. 2.1.1. InstallShield wizard ß Click on “Next” button to start installation. Figure 2-1: PAN Installing Wizard BLUEBEE - Wireless Internet Sharing Wizard - 4 - 2.1.2. Software license agreement ß Click “Yes” to continue the installation if you agree to all the terms in the license agreement. Figure 2-2: Software License Agreement 2.1.3. Choose destination location ß The default location is C:\ Program Files\ IVTCorporation\ MiniBluelet\ Pan. ß Click “Next” button to install program to this folder. Windows2000 or WindowsXP configuration 2.1.4.1. Digital signature [Windows 2000 only] ß If you are using Windows 2000, it might prompt “Digital Signature Not Found” form as follows. Installing BT network adapter [Windows XP only] ß If you see similar message as [Figure 2-5] in Windows XP, click “Continue Anyway” to continue the installation. InstallShield wizard complete ß If you see as [Figure 2-6], PAN is successfully installed on your computer. ß [Windows98SE / ME] User : Restarting PC is required to accept changes. ß [Windows2000 / XP] User : Restarting PC is not required. Figure 2-6: PAN Installation is Completed Note: Windows98SE / ME Users may experience a failure of locating device drivers while installing BT network adapter during the PAN software installation process. In this case, you can install the BT network adapter manually using C:\ ProgramFiles\ IVTCorporation\ MiniBluelet\ Pan\ Device\ win9x \ IVTnetBT_For98.inf Please refer to “Chapter 6. Troubleshooting” for more details. BLUEBEE - Wireless Internet Sharing Wizard - 7 - 2.1.6. PAN first run configuration Plug in USB Adapter to any empty USB port. [Windows98SE / ME ] User: After restarting PC, PAN First Run Configuration window will pop up automatically. [Windows2000 / XP] User : Double click on the PAN icon from the Desktop. ß Type user name for ‘Device Name’. (Example: BT Server, BT Client) This name will appear on the BlueNetwork list [Refer to Figure 3-1]. ß Type passkey in, and retype the passkey to confirm. ß Select the type of your device. For a notebook computer, select ‘Laptop’, and otherwise, select ‘Desktop’. ß Check mark on “Automatically start Pan” if you want to make PAN application operate immediately whenever the system is booted. ß You need to do this initial configuration only once, and the configuration is changeable. (If you have completed section 2.1.6 successfully, you may skip this section.) ß Make sure the USB adapter is properly plugged in, and click “Exit” button. And then run PAN application again.
