Introduction Congratulations on y our pur chase of the Motorola homesight ™ siren accessory . Your siren w ill w o rk w i th any homesight device tin conjunction w i th a triggered event. F o r example, if y our Door/W indow sensor is armed and configured to trigger an event response w hen opened, the siren can set as a device that is set in action on that triggered event. T h is Quick Start Guide describes how to set up and troubleshoot y our homesight siren accessory . Controlling Your Siren Using y our computer and W i reless Sy stem Controller, y ou locally manage the Siren acccessory by setting events w i th trigger devices that w ill utilize the siren in the event response.. How It Works T he Siren accessory enables y ou to signal an audible alert to an event being monitored. If, for ex ample, y ou are monitoring an area for motion and this is detected, the siren can be configured to sound w hen the area event takes place. In this exam ple, the motion sensor is triggered, the information relay ed to the W i reless Sy stem Controller, w h ich activates the siren to sound, aler ting y ou to the event audibly . Co nt r o l l e r Package Contents Siren Installing Your Siren Accessory T he W i reless System Controller must be installed before installing your Siren. Consult the Motorola homesight ™ User Guide for details. T he Siren accessory is used bet w een the monitoring device and the Wiresless Sy stem Controller. 1 2 Plug the Siren into an AC outlet. Register the siren w i th y our W i reless Sy stem Controller using a process called discovery . Refer to y our W i reless Sy stem Controller documentation for instructions on how to discover y our Siren accessory . The Siren transmits on the 418 MHz frequency . Device does not turn on/off w hen specified • Ensure that the Siren has been registered properly w i th the Wireless Sy stem Controller by logging into y our Motorola hom esight ™ program and review ing the Devices list. • Place the Siren in another location closer to the W i rel e s s Sy s t em Control l e r. • Consider adding a Motorola Wireless Signal Repeater (HMAC9100) to y our sy stem to increase device signal communication range. FAQ How far aw ay can the Siren be placed from my Wireless Sy stem Controller? Ty pically 60 feet (18 meters). Can I place the Siren in a different room than my Wireless Sy stem Controller? Y e s, the Siren and Wireless Sy stem Controller use radio frequencies to communicate w i th each other. These frequencies can go through objects like w a lls, ceilings, and floors. Can I use the Siren outdoors? Y e s. The Siren should be kept out of di rect contact w i th w eather elements and plugged into a w eather-proof AC outlet. CAUTION: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Motorola for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
