American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 November 21, 2002 RE: FCC ID: OW5BST801 Attention: Kathy Grzovic I have a few comments on this Application. 1. The label states the maximum antenna gain that can be used is 13dBi. The test report says the maximum antenna tested was 5.6dBi. Documentation needs to be consistent. Please clarify 2. The Manual states that 40 cm separation needs to be kept from all persons. The calculation of the 5.6 dBi antenna comes to 44cm minimum separation. Also, using the 13dBi gain listed on the label the minimum distance would have to be 70 cm. Please revise the documentation to list the actual MPE using the maximum antenna for this system. Please correct the documentation and or test report to reflect this situation. The Electric field generated for a 0.57mW/cm 2 exposure (S) is calculated as follows: S = E 2 /Z where: S = Power density E = Electric field Z = Impedance. ZSE⋅= 0.55 mW/cm 2 = 5.5 W/m 2 The impedance of free space is 377 ohms, where E and H fields are perpendicular. Thus: 3775.5⋅=E = 45.5 V/m which is equivalent to 0.55mW/cm 2 Using the relationship between Electric field E, Power in watts P, and distance in meters d, the corresponding Antenna numeric gain G and the transmitter output power. d GP mVE ×× = 30 )/( Power density: 5.2073 )/( 2 2 E cmmWP d = MPE Calculation: The maximum distance, from the antenna at which MPE is met or exceeded, is calculated from the equation relating field strength E in V/m, transmit power P in Watts, transmit antenna numeric gain G, and separation distance in meters above and solving for d below: E GP d ×× = 30 5.45 6.37.330 44.0 ×× =m The limit for general population/uncontrolled exposure environment from 300 to 1500MHz is f/1500 2 /cmmW .
