Users Manual

Hi Dave I would like to add the following statement to our manual to explain exactly which FCC rules we have been certified to: “This device has been certified to the Class B digital device requirements as specified in the FCC rules and regulations (CFR47 Part 15 Subpart B). This device has also been certified to the FCC rules and regulations (CFR47 Part 15 Subpart C) for the low power transmitter contained within it.” Any comments on this? Regards Haka n Lo ha ma nder

02/18/02 Hakan Lohmander Precise Biometrics In reference to FCC ID: PBKMS010040 Mr.Lohmander Upon completion of review of the application for FCC ID: PBKMS010040, there are several issues that must be addressed before the application can be granted by ATCB. Please address each issue below. 1) Upon reviewing the test report and set up photos, the systems appears to have been tested with an active rod antenna below 30 MHz. This is not in compliance w ith the FCC rules. Systems tested below 30 MHz require the use of a loop antenna. Please provide data using a loop antenna 2) The warning manual needs the correct FCC statements including the statements against unauthorized modifications. 3) In regards to your confidential letter, we cannot list the modification letter as part of the confidential material. Suggestions are as follows. A) Add the changes to your parts list as an appendix so we can honor the request. B) Provide a generic letter for the modifications listing only the locations and a reference to the confidential file. Regards David A. Case NCE Examining Engineer mailto:[email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender.

This should be in compliance with good engineering practice, when measuring magnetic fields. 30 m distance. Loop centre at 1 m elevation. Conducted emission set-up is very close to the ANSI referenced figure. The unit is powered from an AC/AC converter. The AC low voltage wire is low impedance folded to 80 cm. Distance to vertical plane is 40 cm. Table has a height of 80 cm. On the MIRANDA in card position is mounted a shorted loop whish causes a high loading of the magnetic field. This will cause highest load on the drivers and at the same time reduce the radiated fields which might radiate back into the power wiring. During test a DOS programme in the test PC can constantly read a Mifare card mounted on the Precise Miranda unit. When the card is removed a carrier modulated five times a second by a request com- mand (duration below 100 μs) is transmitted continuously. This mode was used for most tests. During conducted emission tests a shorted ring was placed in the card position. This has the consequence that the transmitter is loaded and that the radiated part of the field is re- duced.
