Telephone: (650) 794 2615 Facsim ile: (650) 794 2668 Email: r [email protected] August 15, 2001 RE: IPWireless Compliance with 47 C FR 21.122 To Whom it May Concern: Derivation of Data Rates to Show compliance to 47 CFR 21.122 The air interface employed by the Model AP uses complex spreading of the baseband data as a result of the complex direct sequence code division multiple access (DS- CDMA) multiplexing and QPSK modulation. The air interface chip rate used by the Model AP is 7.68 Mcps. Using QPSK and a spreading factor (SF) of one, the maximum baseband data rate supported by the AP is thus two times the chip rate, or 15.36 Mbps. To comply with 47CFR21.122, a bit rate of 10 Mbps is required. This is due to the necessary bandwidth being specified as 12 MHz, which includes 2 MHz of guard channel from adjacent channel transmitters. The Model AN air interface supports a maximum bit rate that is 28% higher than the specified requirement including the guard band, and is 53.6% higher than the requirement if the guard band is not included in the calculation as allo wed in 21.122 (a).

IP Wireless, Inc.WO: 77097 06/18/2001Model: AP Test Lab: Hollister, Site A FCC 21.908(d) Sample Calculations for Specification Limits Using the Relative Method in 21.908(e). Definitions: P = channel power in dBW normalized to 6MHz (for value, refer to Emissions Mask Data Sheet, Page NN, βPower normalized to 6MHz bandβ for each channel). Pa = average power @ 100kHz (for value, refer to Emissions Mask Data Sheet, Page NN, βPwr 100kβ for each channel). This average power value is used with the average value readings at the band/channel edges for calculating the specification limits. Puce = upper channel edge power limit Plce = lower channel edge power limit Formulas: Puce = Pa β 25 dB Plce = Pa β 25 dB Puce + 250 kHz = Pa β 33+10log(P) dB Plce β 250 kHz = Pa β 33+10log(P) dB Puce + 3 MHz = Pa β 43+10log(P) dB Plce β 3 MHz = Pa β 43+10log(P) dB Since the all measurements were performed using RBW = 100 kHz, no bandwidth correction was necessary. Sample calculations: (shown for the upper channel side onlyβ the lower side limits will be identical) Channel = 2506 MHz P = -12.40 dBW Pa = -11.87 dBm Puce = -11.87 β 25 dBc = -36.87 dBm Puce + 250 kHz = -11.87 β 20.60 dBc = -32.47 dBm Puce + 3 MHz = -11.87 β 30.60 dBc = -42.47 dBm Channel = 2596 MHz P = -12.30 dBW Pa = -11.37 dBm Puce = -11.37 β 25 dBc = -36.37 dBm Puce + 250 kHz = -11.37 β 20.70 dBc = -32.07 dBm Puce + 3 MHz = -11.37 β 30.70 dBc = -42.07 dBm Channel = 2680 MHz P = -12.10 dBW Pa = -11.03 dBm Puce = -11.03 β 25 dBc = -36.03 dBm Puce + 250 kHz = -11.03 β 20.90 dBc = -31.93 dBm Puce + 3 MHz = -11.03 β 30.90 dBc = -41.93 dBm
