Chapter 5: Installing the Network PC Card 1.L ocate an available T ype I Ior T ype I I IP C MC I A slot on your notebook computer. 2.With the N etwor k P C C ar d’ s 68-pin connector facing the P C MC I A slot and the “ N etwork PCC ard” label facing up, as shown in F igure 5-1, slide the N etwork PCC ard completely into the PC MC I A slot while the computer is restarting and before the Windows desktop appears. 3.You may see sever al scr eens appear as the dr iver installation is finalized. T his is normal. N o input should be necessary, and the screens should dis- appear when the card is ready for use. T he H ar dwar e I nstallation is complete. Your Wir eless N etwor k P CC ar d is set up and r eady for use. You may continue r eading to lear n about the car d’ s C onfigur ation U tility in C hapter 6 for Windows N T or C hapter 7 for other Windows O per ating Systems. T he Windows X P compatibility screen will appear, as shown in F igure 4-2. A s this card has been tested to work with Windows XP, click the C ontinue A nyway button to continue. On the final instal- lation screen, click the F inish button to complete instal- lation. T he H ar dwar e I nstallation is complete. Windows X P automatically detects and configures the N etwork PC C ard for your wireless network. T o adjust these settings, refer to your Windows X P doc- umentation. 15 Figure 4-2 Figure 4-3 Instant Wireless TM Series Network PC Card 16 Windows NT will set up the Network PCCard differently depending upon whether you’ve previously installed network hardware or not. Please follow the instructions appropriate for you. If You Have Never Installed Network Hardware: 1.Windows NT is not a Plug-and-Play Operating System and will not auto- matically identify the Network PCCard. To begin setup, insert the Setup Utility CDinto your CD-ROM drive. If the Setup Utility CD attempts to autorun, exit out of the utility to the desktop by clicking the Exittab. Select Settingsfrom the StartMenu and bring up the Control Panel (as shown in Figure 6-1). Double-click the Networkicon. 2.Windows will display the screen in Figure 6- 2, showing that Networking has not been installed. Click the Yesbutton to con- tinue. Installing the Drivers for Windows NT 17 Figure 6-1 Figure 6-2 Chapter 6: Installing the Drivers and Configuration Utility for Windows NT The installation of the Network PC Card is different for users of Windows NT because it is not a Plug-and-Play (PnP)operating system. This means it will not automatically detect the presence of the Card when it is inserted. Consequently, the order of the installation is different. The steps involved in the installation are different, as well. If you are using any other operating sys- tem than Windows NT, stop here and refer to the chapters regarding those oper- ating systems. 1.Locate an available Type IIor Type IIIPCMCIA slot on your notebook computer. 2.With the Network PC Card’s 68-pin connector facing the PCMCIA slot and the “Network PCCard” label facing up, slide the Network PC Card completely into the PCMCIA slot while the computer is restarting and before the Windows desktop appears. The Hardware Installation is complete. Proceed to the next section for driver installation. Overview Installing the Network PC Card In Your Notebook PC Network PC Card Instant Wireless TM Series 18 5.A list of adapters will appear as in Figure 6-5. You will not want to select one of these, howev- er, as your installa- tion disk (the Setup Utility CD) has all of the appropriate drivers. Click the Have Diskbutton to continue. 6. When the Insert Disk screen appears (shown in Figure 6-6), type “D:\WINNT” in the field provided and click the OKbutton to con- tinue. 7.The Select OEMOption screen (shown in Figure 6-7) will display all available adapters. Make sure that Instant Wireless - Network PC Card V3.0 is highlighted and click the OKbutton to continue. 19 Figure 6-5 Figure 6-6 Figure 6-7 3.Installation will begin and you will reach the screen in Figure 6-3. You will want to select the box that reads Wired to the networksince you are adding network hardware. Click the Nextbutton to continue. 4.The screen shown in Figure 6-4 will not show any Network Adapters installed on your system; this signifies that no network adapter has been pre- viously installed. On the screen showing Network Services(Figure 6-10), the selections are automatically made. Click the Nextbutton to continue. 11.As displayed in Figure 6-11, Windows NTwill now be ready to start installing networking components. After verifying your selections, click the Nextbutton to continue or click the Backbutton to make any necessary corrections. 21 Figure 6-10 Figure 6-11 8. On the next screen, make sure there is a check mark in the box beside Instant Wireless - Network PCCard(as shown in Figure 6-8). Then click the Next button to continue. 9.The next screen (Figure 6-9) will show the list of network protocols used on your network. While the TCP/IPProtocolis already selected by default, you should check with your network administrator before installing any addi- tional network protocols. Click the Nextbutton to continue. You may be presented with the screen shown in Figure 6-14, asking if you would like to configure the protocols with a DHCPserver on your network. Click the Yesor No button to continue. This setting may also be changed at a later time. 15. In the event that the screen shown in Figure 6-15 appears, do not make any changes unless you are proficient with the advanced networking properties of Windows NT. Click the Nextbutton to continue. 16. At this point, Windows NTwill let you know that it is ready to start the net- work. If you’d like t…

EMC Issues 1) The block diagram should show the frequency of all oscillators in the device (CFR 2.1033(a)(5)). 2) The operational description explains the device is to be used with 2.5 cm spacing. The device may be used as a general purpose PCMCIA card in a variety of devices including laptops & PDA's, etc. (some of these devices may be used in the lap or while on the body). Therefore touch position IS considered applicable and the device must be subject to portable exposure conditions (2.5 cm separation distance is NOT considered applicable). Please remove the phrase "This equipment should be installed and operated with a minimum distance of 2.5 cm between the radiator and your body." from the users manual as this is not considered applicable. 3) The RF exposure information states 2.5 cm which is no longer considered valid. It appears that the additional conversion factors provided by the manufacturer may be extrapolated factors. Please comment or provide additional probe calibration information for the 2.4 GHz band measured. 2) The test procedure does not appear to report probe tip distance to phantom inner surface during the scan. 3) The report does not appear to a) list measurement and interpolation resolutions of “zoom” scan procedures, b) contain descriptions of extrapolation procedures used to estimate SAR values adjacent to phantom surface, c) description of averaging (integration) procedures to get 1-g SAR from final interpolated grid. FCC ID: PKW-NWP11B ADT No.911015R07 Operational Description The transmitter of the EUT is powered by host equipment. The antenna is Chip antenna. There is no antenna connector. The other instruction, please have a look at the users manual. DSSS Information This device is Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum, the data is mixed by pseudorandom code which is an orthogonal code. The mixed data is digital modulated by BPSK and QPSK technique depends on the data rates. The CCK coding is applied for increasing the data rate. The bit rates are 1,2,5.5,11,22Mbps, the symbol rates are 1,1,1.375,1.375,1.375 Mbps, the chip rates are always 11Mbps. So, the Chip/symbol is 11,11,8,8,and16 respectively. Although is higher bit rate, the processing gain is lower than 10, but the CCK coding used in higher bit rate will provide 2.2dB coding gain.

(i) The evaluation was performed in the applicable area of the phantom depending on the type of device being tested. For devices held to the ear during normal operation, both the left and right ear positions were evaluated in accordance with FCC OET Bulletin 65, Supplement C (Edition 01-01) using the SAM phantom. (ii) For body-worn and face-held devices a planar phantom was used. b. The SAR was determined by a pre-defined procedure within the DASY3 software. Upon completion of a reference and optical surface check, the exposed region of the phantom was scanned near the inner surface with a grid spacing of 20mm x 20mm. c. Based on the area scan data, the area of maximum absorption was determined by spline interpolation. Around this point, a volume of 40 x 40 x 35 mm (fine resolution volume scan, zoom scan) was assessed by measuring 5 x 5 x 7 points. d. The 1g and 10g spatial peak SAR was determined as follows: 1. The first step was an extrapolation to find the points between the dipole center of the probe and the surface of the phantom. This data cannot be measured, since the center of the dipoles is 2.7 mm away form the tip of the probe and the distance between the surface and the lowest measuring point is 1.3 mm (see probe calibration document in Appendix D). The extrapolation was based on a least square algorithm [W. Gander, Computermathematik, p.168-180]. Through the points in the first 3 cm in all z-axis, polynomials of the fourth order were calculated. This polynomial was then used to evaluate the points between the surface and the probe tip. 2. The next step used 3D-spline interpolation to get all points within the measured volume in a 1mm grid (35000 points). The 3D-spline is composed of three one-dimensional splines with the "Not a knot" condition [W. Gander, Computermathematik, p.141-150] (x, y and z -direction) [Numerical Recipes in C, Second Edition, p.123ff]. 3. The maximal interpolated value was searched with a straightforward algorithm. Around this maximum the SAR values averaged over the spatial volumes (1g or 10g) were computed using the 3D-spline interpolation algorithm. 8000 points (20x20x20) were interpolated to calculate the average.
