Users Manual

FEATURES • Controls 2 sequential addresses, ON/OFF •W orks with DHC plug-in RF transceivers • User programmable addresses; easy to program • Up to 75 feet transmission range • Small compact design DESCRIPTION The Leviton Wireless Key Chain Remote Control, Cat. No. HCCKR is designed for use with the DHC RF (Radio Frequency) Transceiver System. The system uses radio frequencies (like a 2-way radio) to transmit DHC commands to remotely turn ON and OFF lights and devices in the home . The remote control will permit the operation of devices with two different “addresses” the control of different lights and loads. The device allows the user to select a specific address for the first control buttons, while the second buttons are set to the next sequential address. The device will transmit up to 75 f t. making it useful to turn ON/OFF lights and loads while in home or driveway. APPLICATIONS The HCCKR Key Chain Remote RF Transmitter must be used in conjunction with the DHC RF Transceiver, such as Cat. No. HCPRF. FCC COMPLIANCE STATEMENT This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device must not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. SETUP The transmitter is pre-programmed to control DHC devices set at “A1” and “A2” addresses. ON/OFF buttons “1” are assigned to “A1 ” and ON/OFF buttons “2” are assigned to “A2”. If other addresses are desired, follow the programming procedure to change the address of the first and s econd buttons. NOTE: The second button will always be the next sequential address after the first button is programmed (i.e., if the first button i s “C3”, the second button is “C4”). If the first button is assigned to the highest number code, the next button would operate the lowest number code (i.e., after address “C16”, the next sequential code would be “C1”). PROGRAMMING AND OPERATION The HCCKR has 4 push-button and an LED (refer to Figure.1) . There are 2 pairs of buttons to control 2 DHC addresses as follows: • The “OFF” buttons will turn OFF devices on 2 sequential addresses. • The “ON” buttons will turn ON devices on 2 sequential addresses. Press and hold the appropriate button for the intended function. The LED will light and the device will send the “Radio Signal” command. The unit can be used to program the address on the DHC RF Transceiver to control its local load as follows: 1. Press and hold the program button on the transceiver until its LED flashes. 2. Press the “ON” button of either ID 1 or 2. 3. The LED on the transceiver will stop flashing. The transceiver will learn the code sent. If a light is connected to the receive r, it will turn ON. The Key Chain Remote Control when used with the transceiver, can also be used to operate other DHC controls (i.e., additional R F Transceivers, Plug-In Dimmers, Wall Mounted Dimmers and Switches). Those devices can be programmed to respond to the Key Chain Remote Control in conj unction with the RF T ransceiver load or separately. To Change Code Settings: The unit is preprogrammed at the factory with code A1 assigned to button 1 and “A2” assigned to button 2. Button 1 can be chang ed to any desired code; button 2 will automatically be assigned the next sequential number above it. Programming is as follows: 1. To enter programming mode, press and hold buttons “1-ON” and “1-OFF” simultaneously. 2. The LED will flash while unit is transmitting. After a few seconds, the LED will stop flashing. The LED will now flash once eve ry few seconds to indicate that the unit is in the programming mode. THE UNIT IS NOW INITIALIZED TO “A1”. 3. TO CHANGE THE HOUSE CODE (LETTER CODE): a. Press the “ON-1” button, the Remote will set to House Code “A”. b. For each repeated press of the “ON-1” button, the House Code will be set to the next incremental letter code (i.e., 1 push = “A ”, 2 total pushes = “B”, 3 total pushes = “C”, ... 16 total pushes = “P”. The device will transmit up to 75 feet making it useful to turn ON/OFF lights and loads while in home or driveway . The data envelope for a typical DHC RF code is pictured below. Each code starts with a 9ms burst of carrier followed by a 4.5ms silence. After the leader, there are 32 bits with binary 1 represented by 2.25ms between rising edges and binary 0 represented by 1.125ms between rising edges. The rising edge of the 33rd and final pulse marks the end of the last bit and is followed by a silence of approximately 40ms. The burst duration is 0.6ms. The DHC RF carrier frequency is 310MHz.
