FCC ID: QVE-0103-001 731 Confirmation No.: TC155739 Correspondence Reference No.: 8062 Transmitted herewith, on behalf of SMK Manufacturing, Inc. is an amendment provided in response to the request for technical information dated April 29, 2003. 1. All keypad inputs to the CPU input port are momentarily normally open switches. When no keys are depressed no transmission will occur. Eight clock cycles after a key is released U1 terminates the output enable, thereby, ceasing transmission via RF cut off transistor Q-4. With the 6 MHz clock, RF transmission is terminated well within a 5-millisecond time period, thereby, complying with the 5-second limit. 2. We confirm that the EUT as tested in 3 orthogonal planes from 30 MHz- 4.28 GHz. We trust this information is sufficient to resolve FCC questions in this application. Operational Description

Operational Description Product Description The Remotecontrol controls its Satellite Set Top Box via IR and RF. IR optical wavelength is 950 nm. RF transmission is off as default. User can chose disable and able RF transition. The microcontroller used is a Zilog Z86L88. The RF transmission frequency is 428 MHz that is generated by 428MHz Saw resonator. The receiver receives 428 MHz.

These measurement tests were conducted at PCTEST Engineering Laboratory, Inc. facility in New Concept Business Park, Guilford Industrial Park, Columbia, Maryland. The site address is 6660-B Dobbin Road, Columbia, MD 21045. The test site is one of the highest points in the Columbia area with an elevation of 390 feet above mean sea level. The site coordinates are 39° 11'15" N latitude and 76° 49'38" W longitude. The facility is 1.5 miles North of the FCC laboratory, and the ambient signal and ambient signal strength are approximately equal to those of the FCC laboratory. There are no FM or TV transmitters within 15 miles of the site. The detailed description of the measurement facility was found to be in compliance with the requirements of § 2.948 according to ANSI C63.4 on October 19, 1992. 1.2 PCTEST Location The map at right shows the location of the PCTEST Lab, its proximity to the FCC Lab, the Columbia vicinity area, the Baltimore-Washington International (BWI) airport, and the city of Baltimore, and the Washington, D.C. area.
