The label must state “This device contains FCC ID QZ9-BURYBCM001” In addition, the user manual for the end product must contain the following information: "This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation." 3. Take care of electrostatic discharge while handling the module. This may destroy the module. 4. Don ́t place the module in a metal housing. This may reduce the operating distance. 5. This device and its antenna must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter. 6. For using antennas not mounted on the module see related document “Bluetooth Comfort Module Antenna Specification “. Take only the specified antennas, otherwise loss of FCC and Bluetooth Approval will result. 7. The users manual or instruction manual for an intentional or unintentional radiator shall caution the user that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. 8. As the device is considered an OEM installation, according to FCC public notice DA 00-1407, a Limited modular approval could be granted. 1. The modular transmitter must have its own RF shielding The radio part of the module is contained in its own RF shielding. The emissions produced by the module are below the limits. For this reason an own RF shielding of the module is not necessary. Requirement fulfilled. 2. The modular transmitter must have buffered modulation / data inputs The module has no modulation inputs. Such inputs are not provided on the module. The Bluetooth radio is self-contained. Requirement fulfilled. 3. The modular transmitter must have its own power supply regulation The module has its own on board power supply circuit. Requirement fulfilled. FCC Federal Communications Commission PHOENIX TEST-LAB GmbH, Königswinkel 10, D-32825 Blomberg - 2 - 4. The modular transmitter must comply with the antenna requirements of Section 15.203 and 15.204c The transmitter shall only use with the tested antenna or with an antenna that has less antenna gain. The specifications of the assigned antennas are filed with this application. Requirement fulfilled. 5 The modular transmitter must be tested in a stand-alone configuration The EUT was tested in the requested stand-alone configuration. Requirement fulfilled. 6. The modular transmitter must be labelled with its own FCC ID number The EUT was not labelled during the test. But it will be labelled with its own FCC ID number. The label specification is filed with this application. If the module is installed inside of an end product, the label cannot be seen. In this case the OEM customer will be instructed to how to apply the visible label. Requirement fulfilled. 7. The modular transmitter must comply with any specific rule or operating requirements applicable to the transmitter and the manufacturer must provide adequate instructions along with the module to explain any such requirements. The EUT is compliant with all applicable FCC rules. Detail instructions are given in the user guide. Requirement fulfilled. - 3 - 8 The modular transmitter must comply with any applicable RF exposure requirements. The maximum measured output power is 0.6 dBm (1.1 mW), the maximum antenna gain is 3 dBi = numeric gain 2.0. The maximum permissible exposure is defined in 47 CFR 1.1310 with 1 mW / cm 2 . The distance from the EUT’s transmitting antenna where the exposure level reaches the maximum permitted level is calculated using the general equation: S = P*G / 4πR 2 With: Smax = 1 mW / cm 2 , P = 1.1 mW, G = linear power gain relative to the isotropic radiator = 3 dBi = 2.0 (numeric gain), R = distance in cm Solving for R, the 1 mW / cm 2 Limit is reached in a distance of 0.4 cm to the transmitting antenna. The module has to be integrated in a way that the minimum distance of 0.4 cm is ensured so a statement in the user manual is not necessary. If you have any further question, do not hesitate to contact us. Best regards PHOENIX TEST-LAB GmbH

Output power and channel separation of a Bluetooth device in different operating modes The different operating modes of a Bluetooth device do not influence the output power and the channel spacing. There is only one transmitter, which is driven by identical input parameters. Only different hopping modes will be used. So the checking of RF parameters in one operation mode is sufficient. Requirement fulfilled. 2. Frequency range The frequency range of this device is 2402 to 2480 MHz. This is in accordance to the Bluethooth Core Specification and was tested during the Bluetooth qualification tests of the Bluetooth module. 3. Examples of hopping sequences Example of a 79 hopping sequence in data mode: 40, 21, 44, 23, 42, 53, 46, 55, 48, 33, 52, 35, 50, 65, 54, 67, 56, 37, 60, 39, 58, 69, 62, 71, 64, 25, 68, 27, 66, 57, 70, 59, 72, 29, 76, 31, 74, 61, 78, 63, 01, 41, 05, 43, 03, 73, 07, 75, 09, 45, 13, 47, 11, 77, 15, 00, 64, 49, 66, 53, 68, 02, 70, 06, 01, 51, 03, 55, 05, 04 Example of a hopping sequence in inquiry mode: 48, 50, 09, 13, 52, 54, 41, 45, 56, 58, 11, 15, 60, 62, 43, 47, 00, 02, 64, 68, 04, 06, 17, 21, 08, 10, 66, 70, 12, 14, 19, 23 FCC Federal Communications Commission PHOENIX TEST-LAB GmbH, Königswinkel 10, D-32825 Blomberg - 2 - Example of a hopping sequence in paging mode: 08, 57, 68, 70, 51, 02, 42, 40, 04, 61, 44, 46, 63, 14, 50, 48, 16, 65, 52, 54, 67, 18, 58, 56, 20, 53, 60, 62, 55, 06, 66, 64 4. Equally average use of frequencies in data mode The use of frequencies will be pseudo randomly generated in dependence of the lower address part, the upper address part of the Bluetooth device and the internal master clock. So the used hopping sequence will be always different from the one before and an equally average use of the frequencies is guaranteed. 5 The receiver input bandwidth The input bandwidth of the receiver is 1 MHz. This will be part of the Bluetooth RF parameter test, and is part of the Bluetooth core specification. 6. Dwell time in data mode The dwell time will be defined in the Bluetooth core specification. Therefore all Bluetooth devices comply with the FCC dwell time requirement. This will be checked during the Bluetooth qualification tests. 7. Spread rate / data rate of the direct sequence signal The spread rate / data rate in inquiry and paging mode can be defined via the access code. The access code is the only criterion for the system to check if there is a valid transmission or not. If you regard the presence of a valid access code as one bit of information, and compare it with the length of the access code of 68 bits, the spread rate / data rate will be 68/1. 8 Spurious emissions in hybrid mode The dwell time in hybrid mode is shorter than in data mode, so the average emission level will be higher in data mode. The peak level in both modes will be the same. For this reason the emissions caused in data mode representing the worst case.

Only one antenna is used at the same time. The Mica antenna could be mounted internally on the module or externally and is used as a reference antenna. The measurements are done on this antenna mounted internally, which also has the highest gain (see Table 1). For the Mica antenna matching components are mounted on the PCB for 50Ω matching. The external antennas (see Table 1) are mounted on another PCB not part of the module. The gains are lower or the same then the reference antenna and do not need any extra measurements for the module with this antennas. The PCB’s used for the external antennas are separated from other electrical equipments and can be seen as a standalone antenna on a cable. The connection between the PCB’s is a very short wire (<1mm) soldered on an antenna pad on each PCB. There are four type-numbers for the module depending of the type of antenna (see Table 1).
