Installing USB Drivers 1) Be sure the USB Dongle is not connected to your PC 2) Open a web browser, type in http://ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM20600.exe and press enter “File Download” dialog box will appear NOTE: Driver is compatible with Windows, 2000, 2003, 2008, XP, Vista and 7. 3) Click Save, and then select a convenient location (like your desktop) and click Save 4) Locate the “CDM20600.exe” file on your PC, right-click on it, and then click Extract All... (Note: Unzip process may vary, depending on your default unzip utility) “Extraction Wizard” dialog box will appear 5) Follow the unzip utility steps until extraction is complete A folder containing “USB Drivers” will appear 6) Double-click on the folder “USB Drivers” and note the path. It will be needed for steps 10 and 14. 7) Plug USB Dongle into an available port on your PC The USB Dongle Status LED* will turn on solid green “Found New Hardware Wizard” will appear 8) Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next 9) Select Search for the best driver in these locations. Be sure the box “Include this location in the search” is checked, and then click Browse. 10) Locate the folder “USB Drivers” from step 6, select it in the dialog box and then click OK Once the driver is installed, wizard will display “Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard” 11) Click Finish Another “Found New Hardware Wizard” will appear 12) Repeat steps 8 - 11 13) Start your INSTEON software and follow its instructions to use USB Dongle EX: In HouseLinc, go to Tools -> Options Key Features • Works with HouseLinc and other INSTEON software • Straight-forward and simplified command set • Easy and trouble-free USB connection • Delivers commands to your INSTEON devices via RF technology • Stores over 1,023 INSTEON Links in 64KB of non-volatile memory Quick-Start Guide USB Dongle – INSTEON ® PowerLinc Modem USB Adapter Model: 2448A7 SmartLabs Limited Warranty – SmartLabs warrants to original consumer of this product for a period of 2 years from date of purchase, this product will be free from defects in material & workmanship & will perform in substantial conformity with its owner's manual.
