FCC Statement One of the bottlenecks that many product developers encounter in incorporating any radio communication device is facing the legal aspect of qualifying the products and going to market without encountering legal problems. The Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB) authorization process in the United States offers manufacturers more than one approval body. The TCB authorization process certifies devices in accordance with FCC rules and policies. The performance of the Artaflex AWP24U radio is measured according to the requirements of FCC rules. The major applicable FCC regulations are described in Section 15.247 (a) to (d). User Manual 2.4GHz DSSS USB Radio Dongle AWP24U Artaflex Inc. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: •Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. •Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. •Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help Any changes or modification not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the device. Where shielded interface cables have been provided with the product or specified additional components or accessories elsewhere defined to be used with the installation of the product, they must be used in order to ensure compliance with FCC regulations. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

American Telecommunications Certification Body Inc. 6731 Whittier Ave, McLean, VA 22101 October 10, 2007 RE: Artaflex Inc. FCC ID: UP2AWP24U I have a few comments on this Application. 1. Please upload Block Diagram to the Block Diagram exhibit. 2. Please remove the 20 cm statement from the user manual as the EUT is classified as portable. 3. RF Exposure MPE is not needed for this as the power is not over the 60/Frequency limit. FYI for 15.247 all MPE is done at 20 cm. Please see attachment of SAR not Required document. This should be uploaded in place of MPE calculations. The EUT fits in a laptop which if placed in a persons lap will be less that 20 cm. 4. The peak power is rated at +4 dBm which is 0.0025 Watts yet the test report shows only half of the rated power. Please explain. Thank you, Douglas E. Noble Examining Engineer mailto: [email protected] The items indicated above must be submitted before processing can continue on the above referenced application. Failure to provide the requested information may result in application termination. Correspondence should be considered part of the permanent submission and may be viewed from the Internet after a Grant of Equipment Authorization is issued. z Page 2 October 10, 2007 Please do not respond to this correspondence using the email reply button. In order for your response to be processed expeditiously, you must submit your documents through the AmericanTCB.com website. Also, please note that partial responses increase processing time and should not be submitted. Any questions about the content of this correspondence should be directed to the sender. The unit is rated at +4 dBm conducted however because the unit has an integrated antenna radiated testing was performed. The maximum radiated power detected was reported. The module is designed to implement wireless device links operating in the worldwide 2.4-GHz ISM frequency band. It is intended for systems compliant with world-wide regulations covered by ETSI EN 301 489-1 V1.41, ETSI EN 300 328-1 V1.3.1 (Europe), FCC CFR 47 Part 15 (USA and Industry Canada) and TELEC ARIB_T66_March, 2003 (Japan). The module contains a 2.4-GHz 1-Mbps GFSK radio transceiver, packet data buffering, packet framer, DSSS baseband controller, Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI), and SPI interface for data transfer and device configuration. The radio supports 98 discrete 1-MHz channels (regulations may limit the use of some of these channels in certain jurisdictions). In DSSS modes the baseband performs DSSS spreading/de-spreading, while in GFSK Mode (1 Mb/s - GFSK) the baseband performs Start of Frame (SOF), End of Frame (EOF) detection and CRC16 generation and checking. The baseband may also be configured to automatically transmit Acknowledge (ACK) handshake packets whenever a valid packet is received. When in receive mode, with packet framing enabled, the device is always ready to receive data transmitted at any of the supported bit rates, except SDR, enabling the implementation of mixed-rate systems in which different devices use different data rates. This also enables the implementation of dynamic data rate systems, which use high data rates at shorter distances and/or in a low- moderate interference environment, and change to lower data rates at longer distances and/or in high interference environments. 4.1 Link Layer Modes The AWP24U module supports the following data packet framing features: SOP – Packets begin with a 2-symbol Start of Packet (SOP) marker. This is required in GFSK and 8DR modes, but is optional in DDR mode and is not supported in SDR mode; if framing is disabled then an SOP event is inferred whenever two successive correlations are detected. The SOP_CODE_ADR code used for…
